Sweet ride! How's the axle articulation with your setup? That's awesome 198:1......

ohhh...in the picture it looked to me like a small spare...I guess I missed that it was full-sized. ha! what's to the left of it in the picture, which would be on the right rear of your truck, near the roll bar?

Here is a better pic of the rear. I have a tool box mounted to the top of the inside fender well. A shovel is mounted to the roll bar with the fist grips.

Looks great man!

What is the story of the rack over the roll bar? It looks like you set your rig up to be pretty self reliant... what kind of wheeling do you like to do?

Where in Iowa are you from?

The rack is one of those cargo haulers that slide in your receiver hitch. I found an aluminum one that was the same width as the roll bar. I mounted it using some U-bolts. I strap the gear down using a mini truck tailgate net. It works very good. It sits low enough that the wind doesn't bother the gear when going down the freeway.

I mostly do rock crawling and trail rides. I try to do the Rubicon once a year as well as the Dusey Irsham trail. I generally go wheeling east of Fresno outside of Shaver Lake. There are a ton of trails. The hills/mountains you see in the background of some of the pics is were I go wheeling every day that I'm home. It may sound funny but I will actually load my rig and then hit my personal 36acre rock park to see how it wheels. I adjust the load as needed.

My next project is a frame off FJ 40 that has been "professionally bobbed to a FJ45 cab length.

I'm having trouble picturing it. Where do the back wheels go? Is it more like a 45 that's the length of a 40 with a stubby bed?

198:1? No wonder they're pissed. That's 4:1 lower than my current goal. [sigh] Stock birfs?

The back wheels actually rub the cab right now. I'm swapping everything over to a 60 frame. In the end it will be a 45 extended cab with a 4.5' bed. Remember the old CJ-8's?

Our neighbor in Fremont had one. We called him "duck boy" for his propensity to hunt out in the wetlands and carry around the requisite artillery.

Did you use the back flip-out vent windows from the hard top? Ever think of using the pre-75 accordion window in the back of the cab?

I've been thinking that the price of '80s is low enough to go with the automatic and coil springs too; oh, and maybe electric lockers.

Every month he can afford it he buys a $50 or $100 gift certificate from the 4x4 shop. He just stacks them up and when he has enough he will take his rig in and get it all done.

I just hope that shop don't go out of business before he gets enough!

Very nice rig be the way, just the way a Cruiser should be.

Very nice. Sounds like you've actually done alot of investing in upgrades in a short period of time. Priorities right too - jealous of that Orion...

Trail pics!?!

I figured it was cheaper in the long run to upgrade in areas of the vehicle. If you are going to put a locker in the front, might as well install the longfields while your at it, etc.

The website is down on the trail pics on it. When it's back up i'll post some.
