I have spent the last hour reading and really enjoying this post. I kindly like the idea of leaving it with some good character as far as no paint. Do you plan on painting it sometime or leaving it as is?

Wow... is this a semi common issue? I had that almost exact thing happen in my 55.

Ok, I just spent a day straightening a hood with a torch/hammer/dolie, and the one "out of the shed" looks better, I can't bitch though the windshield in my fj40 came out of your shed...

Looking good Dan, I liked the rat rod look, you keep going you will end up with a nice driver fj40,

Btw I have a gallon of fleet white here, I will donate to the cause...if you want it...

Lol out of the "shed" he says.

Nice Dan

You have some nice spare parts laying there sir

Your spare parts are better than all of the used parts in this country...:frown:

Bummer about the motor... Thanks for the good read.

Pulled another 2F head off the shelf and checked it for cracks.

Opened up a OEM Gasket set I bought from Cruiser Dan at American Toyota. There are holes for the water jacket but they do not seem to line up.

Grrrr

I have 2 2f cores if you need one, unknown condition ...what year was that motor?

One of the cores is off a 83, but it blew a head gasket, and will need a cut and magniflux.. I can take a straight edge to it if you want it it's yours,

Dan, the head gasket should match whatever head you end up using. The head gasket never matches up with all the holes in the deck. There is one number for 81-85 and a different number for 85-90 HG's.
Or there was. They may have superceded all of them to the later number. Other Dan will know.
