I learned how stubborn roots were back around 2008... Had an 80 at the time and we were trying to get rid of a big shrub. So I told my dad we've got a crusier for a reason lets hook it up to the hitch and yank it out.Funny how big of a fight a well rooted tree or shrub will give you. Many moons ago, @southerncruiser62 helped me pull some holly bushes out at our old house and had to anchor his built 80 against the curb because the winch was moving his truck and my 40 tied together.
I just recently had to pull up a Japanese Maple stump that was about 4.5" in diameter at the base. The root ball was amazing for the size of the tree. I wound up having to use a snatch block for mechanical advantage, chained to the stump and anchored to my 200 (against the curb), using the 8274 on my 40... and it still took several tries and getting just the right angles. That was only AFTER cutting 2 of the 3 main roots that were bigger around than the actual stump.
