I've got a custom 26 gallon aluminum fuel tank where the spare used to be.

Do you have a skid plate to protect the aluminum fuel tank?

I saw Mark's truck and aux tank in person on Monday. It is pretty sweet. No pics but it sits flush with the bottom of the frame rails. No skid plate. Looks like it made routing the exhaust a little bit tougher. Still very nice but it didn't look cheap  Maybe Mark will post a pic and a price, I forgot to ask.

BTW, his truck is very well setup with a s/c, davis radiator, 4+ rear bumper, etc. as his sig line indicates. Very clean ride.

I feel for you blokes .In Aus we have standard 90 litre and aux 50 litre tanks from factory . Maybe toyota still stock some and you could retro fit them?Only a suggestion but I hope a good one.

Hope Mark post a picture or to with some more info. Any one else with a custom tank out there?

I would like to get a count on how many would be serious about a gravity feed 20 gallon fuel tank for the 80 series. It would be made of Stainless Steel 1.6mm thick. It would use the same fill as the stock tank. The tank would be baffled and be ready to bolt up. The price should be be around 550 dollars pre shipping.

Thanks

Chris

I would be interested in 2 tanks.

I might be interested, however I'm interested in some of the details as to how it would mount, how the gravity feed would work, how you plum the gravity feed etc.

The gravity feed set up I have seen uses a banjo fitting in the bottom of the main tank that goes in where the drain plug is. The bottom of the aux has a feed and the bottom of the aux must be above the bottom of the main. As the main empties the aux drains into it. The net result is that the main reads "full" til the aux is empty. I had one of these in a 1980 Toyota 4WD truck. It tended to over-power the evaporative emissions and saturated the charcoal canister regularly. In addition, if anything happens to the transfer line both tanks will empty out onto the ground.

Factroy tanks always draw fuel up and out as opposed to going out the bottom. There may be a statutory reason for that but I don't know for sure.

Sound like a 25 gallon reservce in the spare tire location with top feed is ideal.
