I am really confused on your 3rd generation 4Runner antenna operation. How does Toyota automatically lower an antenna that doesn't exist?

On my 99 it has a power antenna. Our 04 doesn't maybe it changed 01 and the last two years of the 3th generation 4Runner had the built in the glass antenna like the 4th generation. When I bought it they was a aftermarket radio that the antenna extended everything the unit was turned on, even the CD player. Installed a unit from a 2001 Tundra and only extends when the radio is on. No switch for it on the dash. Just extends full with the radio then retracts when off, no manual control at all.

Damn okay I see I posted 3rd twice. Meant 4th the first time. Have a 99 & 04 4Runner. It's a pain I can't edit with my Phone.

:bang: meant 99

Rotate your phone and "Edit" should appear.

Nope tried that in the past and just looked again. Options like Edit and Delete are not there. Still miss my Droid4 with a key board. My new phone is always changing words to what it thinks I want. I will admit spell check is nice most the time but most misspelled words are because of the virtual keyboard.

Hit the three horizontal bars next to the post time stamp. Edit should be an option.

Spotted some nice Cruisers heading North on the 17 on my run to Clarkdale this morning (sorry no pics). One was a white nicely modded 80 with a snorkel, the other looked like a decked out 200 series with a RTT. Anyone here?

Ignoring the and rover quality issues, the Defender is a nice rig..

Always liked the LOOK of the Defender; people that really know them and teach for Overland Expo tell me that is where the attractions ends though......................

I always like the look of the early Land Rovers. One the building I covered for the city of PHX was the main library. Was a older part time employee who had a 64 series one or two series (not sure when the series changed) 108 in her garage. Believe her and her ex husband bought it when it was a couple of years old and traveled all over in it when their kids were small. Know someone who did some work for her. He said it was parked in a single car garage that had so much stuff in there you could barely tell it was a rover. The thing had so many memories she wouldn't sell it.

Haven't heard any updates from John on his flex plate replacement and that dash doesn't look like a 3rd generation 4Runner or a old Dakota. So is the 01 4Runner back on the road?

Yes John, I like the early ones too. Guess I am also living in the past somewhat. Very few things these days are really built to last, maybe that is why I like the old forty's so much?

View from the hotel room this morning in Salt Lake City.
It just started snowing again at the slc airport - hope I make it out of here tonight
