MEETING NOTES

1) First time Guests

a) Breanna & Ryan [@FJ804iii]

i) Ryan owns an ‘97 FZJ80 Green with lockers, with about 200,000 miles on it (he bought it with 130,000). He heard about CSC through @Saddletramp when he bought Steve’s trailer. Ryan and Breanna live in Buckeye so this is the first meeting they’ve been able to attend, since it’s such a far drive.

b) Arthur

i) Arthur owns a ‘99 Green UZJ100 with 244k miles, factory rear locker and front ARB locker, geared by Slee. Arthur goes on a lot of ski trips to Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, etc. He has family in Moab and a vacation house in Moab as well so they go there quite a lot.

2) New Members

a) Mark – [@Mark3406e]

i) Mark owns a red ’93 FJ80, and owned a ‘85 4runner before. He found the FJ80 on Craigslist right in his neighborhood. He bought it stock and has built the front and rear bumpers and roof rack himself. He bought the Cruiser from a guy who bought it from a retired guy from Prescott. The truck is almost at 309k miles, which may be the highest mileage in the club. He reports that the truck runs great with original head and motor, never had a single issue with it.

We were “photobombed” by some teenagers several times during this meeting.

3) Run of the Month

a) June

i) Casner: Originally this run was supposed to be led by @Dimples but he wasn’t able to go so @Chrismanjs lead it. @Fuge provided the verbal trip report since Chris wasn’t in attendance at this meeting: There were 3-4 100s, 3-4 80s, 2 4runners who ran the trail. The trail was uneventful (but beautiful) but we had some fuel pressure issues with the altitude. Ken in his white 100 series had some heating issues; it seemed a lot of people had a lot of heating issues that weekend for some reason. On the trail we had some good spotting and good help so we did well; had a lot of people camping, maybe 20 trucks at “The End of the World.” The forest ranger came by and she was pretty cool and showed us her brand new truck and didn’t get us in for camping in the area we chose, even with the Stage 2 fire restrictions. There were some people who chose to camp Friday night, probably about 7 trucks. The food was great we had a ton of food provided by everyone, a huge fajita success. We had a couple babies even come out on this run, Graham (@Otter’s) successfully experienced his first camping trip. Pete @verruckt1 tested out his new Venturecraft trailer and it successfully made it up Casner behind his 80 series. This was a pretty successful run with all the people that showed up and contributed to the potluck.

b) July

i) This ROTM was originally supposed to be July ROTM – Riggs Flat Lake but due to the Frye Fire that run can’t happen, so trip leader @floggerdogger is taking people to the July ROTM - Diamond Rock (Black River) area (Apache reservation?). This run is happening next weekend July 29th. Need to find out if reservation permits for camping are needed for this. @LandCruiserPhil mentioned the Salt River Canyon out to Young and said he tries to go out there once per year, the permit is cheap and they don’t allow side-by-sides, ATVs, etc. on that road so it’s nice.

c) August is not planned yet – TBD. There were suggestions to perhaps make a trip north to do something for the 21st for the solar eclipse?

d) September will be led by yjeff – not officially planned yet – TBD, but there was some discussion of perhaps making this “A Day at the Beach” out to Sheep’s Bridge. Ryan is running it this weekend so he’ll report back on the situation of the crossing. You can go to srp.net at any time to see the current release at Horseshoe Dam, and that information will determine how the run is going to be.

e) October – Casner #2 led by @brices123

4) New Business

@yjeff presented @LandCruiserPhil with an early birthday present for his 60th birthday--- photos to come from @medtro! ;)
