Cruiser Lean: "You've been doing it all wrong. Yes you"

Haha. Crazy KDSS....

Yeah, you kinda have to experiment. I used my High Lift under the PS rear bumper, with a bottle jack under my DS LCA. Shook it a few times, let it rest, and then closed the valves and dropped it. Got it within 1/4" of each wheel.

I played and played, still 1 inch front driver side.
Dealership says it's normal, do anyone has a paper showing the Half inch tolerance I can show them?
I'd be happy with Half an inch.
Thinking of installing BP 51 to improve and make the lean go away.
Thoughts?

My thoughts of the system that if the valves are open and you were to lift the entire vehicle till all 4 tires hang and leave it for a while so the system can sort of reset then let it down and give it a good shake and tighten up the valves and recheck. Im sure if you replaced the suspension and had the valves open and put back together and torque bolts once the weight of the vehicle is on all 4 tires and tighten the valves it should be normal.

Thank you for this post.

I am having a hell of a time with my GX470... I took it "really" wheeling for the first time this weekend while at the Northwest Overland Rally and when I left the event on Sunday my driver's side was 4" higher in the rear, and 2" higher in the front. Nothing else that I tried made any difference, so I tried this and got it to about 1" up front, and 2" in the rear.

I now have the rear driver tire jacked about 1 foot off of the ground and am letting it sit for awhile before closing the valves, crossing my fingers, and lowering it back town to take my measurements.

If I cannot get it sorted today I have an appointment at Lexus tomorrow morning to get the issue looked at, and hopefully fixed.

While under there I also found that my passenger LCA (rear) is bent a bit from hitting on something... I don't know how that could cause the issue, but it may be something for me to look into.

I measured my LC today and my driver side front is 1" lower and drivers side rear is 3/4" lower. Will def try to loosen valves and jack up passenger side to see if this fixes it. Hmmmmm, maybe a good time to go ahead with the OME lift? :)

This was/is a great thread. @Markuson pointed it out in my recent post about different heights on various corners of my 2016 LC. My differences are minimal. And, unlike the rest of you, it is only with great fear and trepidation that crawl under a vehicle with a wrench or whatever and start trying to turn things. But at least I know what needs to be done. And maybe I can train my dealers service department on how to do this. :D I did download the OME pdf.

How much is acceptable? I have a 1/2” difference from side to side (driver side 1/2” lower than passenger side).

In addition to that both sides are 1” higher in the rear.

Higher in rear is normal and expected.
.5” side to side is pretty good.
I wouldn’t worry about it.

If you park on a slant...try backing in (reversing direction) for a few days and it may even out on its own.

Thanks for the reply. I was expecting the rear to be higher and I’m solving that by installing OME 2” coil overs in the front and .75” springs and shocks in the rear.

I wasn’t sure about side to side differences and I couldn’t notice any lean until I measured it. I can live with .5” side to side and will wait until after the OME suspension install to see where it ends up.

The FSM says up to 1/2" of left-to-right lean is within spec

From the FSM...

(The "vehicle tilt calibration" is what @MScruiser describes in this thread)

Got my rig back today. Front sits at 37” on both sides and rear sits at 37.75” on driver side and 38” on passenger side.

The look is much better than stock height and the ride on the OME suspension is noticeably firmer. It still feels smooth but not soft. I like cornering and the reduced lean on turns as well as the look out the windshield.

I’d recommend this mod to anyone getting a new 2018. Outstanding improvement for a little under $2K.

One question: I got the stock springs back from the shop and it seems one of the rear springs is slightly taller than the other. Is this right?

Normal.
The springs are side-specific.
