So I have a buddy that has been my go to source for any questions "Land Cruiser" since we met through a mutual friend. If I have a question he has the answer. If I want to do something he's done it and shares with me how to do it. Did I mention he's a Toyota Mechanic?

He always answers my calls and never dodges me no matter how often I bug him. He helped me get my Ram Jet at dealer cost, welded my front cage and the list goes on.

I know how stoked he is on cruisers so when I told him about the SWB 45 he didn't hesitate to say "we need to talk". Turns out he has a few leftover parts from an old 45 project he sold off many years ago. "I think I have a new OEM SWB tailgate and chains".

Well it turns out he recalls selling the tailgate with the truck but he did still have a few parts he was willing to pass on.

I mentioned on another thread that I used to have some bug catcher door tops and gave them away to who, I don't remember...

Turns out I had given them to my buddy. "Here, you can have them back". :D

So now I have door uppers with much better bug catcher weather stripping than my others. I did notice that the tops were cut off?! That's how they were when I got them about 15 years ago...

Not sure if I should try to salvage the whole uppers or risk trying to surgically pull out the weather stripping...

Here are a few more parts...

Dom:

The 45 gods are in your corner. Nice score on the parts. Sounds as if you made it home with no issues. I had Bates keeping an eye out for you. How does the new bug catcher weather-stripping work, I need to order some for my 65. Could not do much with mine today, busy running erands. Talk to you soon.

Whoa...

If you get to a point where you have a tail gate hinge you don't need I would love to borrow one- I will return it, so I can reproduce 3 for my tailgate... I am assuming the 45 SWB hinge is the same as a 40 series drop-down hinge.

Thanks guys. Finds like this make it that much more fun. Imagine my excitement when I first thought I would be setting my eyes on a brand new factory tailgate.

It just wasn't meant to be.

Thanks Mike. Funny we live in the same town, commute to work 100 miles in cities next to each other and I never see him.

Wish he would've made the leap to SaMo...

The bug catchers are like jackalopes as far as I'm concerned. I thought I might have hit one of the last "real" sets alive today but I have my doubts. I may get some of Robert's glue together reproductions as it seems to be the only viable option out there.

I'm happy to loan one of these out. I'm not sure about the difference but after checking these against mine I think these might be for a 40. Mine have two bolts on the lower attachment and these have one.

Someone here knows...

the bug catchers cut on top is stock the window is taller.it makes up the difference.seal is on the cab

Difference between a 64 and a 65.

Hinge difference is also age-related, not model based. Dont remember the date of the switch on those tho.

I've never seen NOS chains. Never. WOW!
