Greg B., Eric W. and myself are heading down Thursday for a week in the Maze prior to CM2013 - Who else is going?

We are at a rainy rest stop north of SLC and Greg has engine or tranny noises. Waiting for a flat deck to get his truck to Bountiful to a Cruise head recommended shop.

Trip might be over for Greg - keeping my fingers crossed its just a minor fix.
 
Have a good trip Glenn, hope everything works out for Greg. Good luck with the repair.
 
sad news .....
Greg is out.....engine issues (loose thrust washer banging in his engine)...... he is trying to arrange to get his rig shipped from Salt Lake City back home, somehow ....
We were helped by a Cruiser guy named Ryan in Bountiful near SLC ... what a great Cruiser community we have!
Greg's rig was hauled to a trusted garage and the pan was dropped to check on the source of the noise.

Talk about a tough luck!! :bang::bang::bang::bang:


there was nothing more Eric and I could do ..... reluctantly we pushed on to Green River .... :crybaby: :crybaby:
 
Hi folks. Thanks for your thoughts. Both the truck and I are back in Canada. uShip worked great!

Not sold on the thrust washer being the entire issue, though the old screwdriver in the ear shows the most noise coming from the rear of the engine. Really appreciate all Ryans help (Wasatch Cruisers member) in getting us into a shop right away, and making himself available whenever needed. The shipper made a quick stop at Tor's on the way to Sumas. Tor gave it a quick once over and had a suggestion.

The discovery phase is next!

I hope Glenn and Eric are enjoying Canyonlands, and ya'll enjoy Moab proper when you get there.

Glad it worked out in the end! Too bad you could now make it to Moab.

Possibly a loose flywheel? I had that once and is wreaked all kind of havoc, strange knocks and all.
 
Eric and I emerged from 7 days in the Maze - what an unbelievable trip - last night we spent at the Dirty Devil River ford on a sandy river bank and had a good clean up.
Warm and sunny weather.
Eric had to head home - sadly we parted ways at Hanceville- I pushed on to Blanding.
I think Eric bagged out a rear spring as it was sagging 3" half way through the Maze - new springs needed on his first "shake down" trip.
 
Almost back - sitting at the BC Ferry ''Hostage Terminal for the 5:00 pm ferry home
After 20 days and over 5,000 km of Interstate and Utah's finest red dust roads I need a few days to unwind before digging into the pictures.
I think that will be my last trip down there in the 74 - just too slow and hard on the old body. I need a coil sprung ride.
Last night I slept besides the beautiful Natches River 20 miles outside of Yakima and had a hot shower before retiring. I woke up to warm and sunny weather-- that area is gorgeous with a lot of volcanic and basaltic columns.
