I would be more concerned with the inner axle seal myself, its still mangled with parts missing.

But then again no reason I should be conserned it not my truck:flipoff2:

Could also use some additional grease. Last time I looked it wasn't leaking gear oil, so would run it. Would prefer to put newer stuff on next time it is apart, so would prefer to run it until donor parts are acquired.

Claudia, was Levitation mode engaged at the time?

Broke at the crack, so yes.:hillbilly:

Again, a big thanks to you and Kevin for all the help. My lack of Toyota axle knowledge as well as lack of tools (good thing that they were safe and sound in the K5 back in AZ...:frown:) was glaringly exposed in this episode of "Life With the Blue 40".
I also should clarify that 'help' really meant 'get the **** out of the way and let the professionals handle this, otherwise we'll never make it off the trail today'. For that, I'm grateful.

So far, the seam appears to be holding; just a very slight seep at the hub.

Yes, part-time though. We had heard an unexplained metallic clank sound at one of the earlier climbs but nothing after that. It let go when she had the front across the crack, and turned driver/uphill to complete the crossing. The right front was back on the ground, with the weight shifted to it and the wheel slightly turned, when the torque input came...

No problem at all glad we were able to help...I enjoy drama as long as its not mine:D

Maze - Pre-Pre-Run to CM 2011

Drew and I did a quick 'recon' run through the Maze, which seems to be of interest, perhaps next year. Here are a few shots. We came in off SR24 across from the Goblin State Park Road, 2WD gravel to the Hans Flat Ranger Station. We camped outside of the park boundary, since we were only driving through (Glen Canyon National Rec Area) and had not prearranged a camping permit. We camped at the top of a bluff overlooking French Creek Fork of Happy Canyon. Cold and windy thta night.

Saturday morning we left camp and drove past the ranger station (with Winston hiding in the back seat) and turned off the main trail and hit Panorama Point and Cleopatra's Chair, then backtracked and continued south.

At the bottom of the Hans Flat Trail there is a turn-off and switchbacks down to the Flint Trail, which proceeds a long way north to the Maze Overlook and other attractions we did not have time to explore ...

top of the swichbacks, turn-off to head north to the Maze and to Hwy 95 turn-off we had to take, which reaches pavement just north of Hite Marina. Coming from the South you could come in this way. The Maze is the most remote, least visted part of Canyonlands. The last picture is Lake Powell in the distance on our way out. After that we hauled ass down to Blanding to meet you folks.
