So, the scenario goes like this...

Saturday, I jump into my rig and head down to Fort Hunter Ligget to get my new sliders from Mr. Hanna (they are a set of beautiful things, for sure.)
About 1.5 hour drive from my house and I had no problems and did not have the radio on going down.

Well, I am heading back after getting the sliders and I notice this kind of guttural winding vibration noise. Seems to be coming from the front DS.
Now, at first, I thought it might be an exhaust leak, as it is most noisy when I gas it and it sort of sounds like that 'bwwwwaaaaaaaaaaa'.
But the more I paid attention, the more it sounded like a bearing or something along those lines. Not to mention, the exhaust system is on the PS.

It is most prevalent when getting on the gas and deceleration, and in some cases I get a pretty good vibration from it through the floorboards.

This is very frustrating as it just suddenly popped up. That is not the usual case for a bearing so I am scared.
All fluids are new and checked them when I got home for levels. All are good.

Front end was reworked by the dealer about 20k ago to the tune of $1200.
Don't know the history of the rear bearings but the sound seems like it originates from the front area.

Hope I did not leave anything out.

Perhaps the front drive line? But what would make it suddenly go wacky?

Any help, as always, is appreciated moooocho!

I had something like this show up on my rig after putting on my hannas .
check for fitment at the rockers . I had to adjust mine a little and also had to cut part of the heat shield on the pass side as it was rubbing the bracket between the cats

Really? In no way did I figure they had anything to do with it.
The cat does bang a little but that is because my exhast bracket is bent. An easy fix.
I will check to see the clearance on the ds one.
If that is all it is, I will be one happy camper.

I have the same event in my 97 as you describe. Exactly.

Been going on for a while now and I (or anyone else that's tried) have not been able to pin point it's source or reason for happening.

To be honest, it doesn't impact performance (now anyway) and is more of annoyance sound-wise. I either turn up the radio or roll down the windows to deal with it. :D

I've learned to live with it and hopefully will get it resolved at some point but am done stressing about it for now.

FWIW, I also have Hanna sliders and it was there before and after the install. Meaning, they had NO impact on the noise occurring or it's frequency or volume...

I am interested to see what you discover during your search.

I'll bet you have some part of the slider vibrating on the body. As an experiment-take off the DS slider. If the noise is gone, you know where to begin your search. I had this at first with a set of Slee Sliders and it was the front support just touching the body and buzzing.

Similar problem here. Slider had moved and was touching the pinch weld.

If it's not the slider touching something, most likely item is a dry spindle bushing. Lots of fronts get repacked without applying proper grease in the spindle upon reassembly. As much an epidemic as not applying grease to the axle tip spline/drive plate splines - the other screwup.
