Since I have to replace my radiator, I figure it's a good time to replace my crank seal and oil pump gasket. I still need to order a radiator, but I have all the other parts. Anyone interested in joining in?

I also need to source a BF torque wrench.

Autozone rents a Torque Wrench that goes to 600 ft/lbs. $299 I believe.

Put on breaker bar and secure in good position , stay far away and tap the key to turn starter to turn engine to loosen main bolt.

Get helper to hold fly wheel with a long pry bar while using breaker to tighten. Get hammer to tap hard on the breaker to lock the main bolt. No need for torque wrench.

You mean a $299 deposit?

I still need to figure out how to hold the crank while I loosen/tighten.

Yes, a deposit.

You hold the engine by putting a deep socket through a hole in the flex plate and wedging it against the trans.

Or you can use a chain wrench wrapped around the crank pulley.
They are cheap at Harbor Freight and will last for this job and maybe a few more.
I would have offered mine but the chain links broke. I used an old bike inter-tube to wrap around the pulley several times to serve as a pad for the chain.

Everything is off.

Oil pump cover is off, oil pump o-ring is out, crank pulley is off, crank seal is off, radiator is out, radiator hoses are out.

New thermostat and thermostat gasket is on.

All I have to do is put everything back on.

The oil pump o-ring was not broken like I've seen in some other 80's. But it leaked bad. I think it could use a slighty larger diameter o-ring.

Use some Syl-Glide to lube the o-ring. You can get it at Napa for cheap.

Pics or it didn't happen! :flipoff2:

This is all I have.

Everything is all buttoned up. I left the AC belt off and left the idler pulley off. I think I should source a shorter idler pulley bolt and put it in, as it may be needed to properly hold down the oil pump cover.

I noticed a PS leak. So one more item on the to do list.
