Well the only place to stay in the NP system is a camper cabin with public restrooms. So thinking of staying somewhere south near JH or Tetons village area. So you can do Yellowstone in one day? We will be there second week of august.

Shush what do you know about Moran WY. There are some private cabins in that area that seem pretty nice.

Loose plan is to take 5 days driving there hitting Rushmore, Badlands, and Black hills on the way. Spend a week in YS and GTT then drop the family off in DEN for a flight home for school. Maybe a few days at Slee to get 200 perfect then ten more days to myself somewhere out west to be determined.

What did I say about either that makes me on crack. He did not ask about JH. He asked about Tenons and Yellowstone. Unless he's hiking Tetons are a day. Yellowstone 3 days to stop at every turnout.

Jackson is a great tourist town for sure. Lots to do.

I'd stay in JH, a few high end hotels with spas for wife and a few more rustic ones as well. Teton village would be good too. I did Yellowstone in one day, BUT I did it in one day 3 separate times over a summer so I may have rushed more knowing I'd come back....but I just detest the tourists.

Moran is just a post office and Ranger station, I think I remember a small gas station. It's a good rally point before moving off HWY 191 into the park.

sorry, violent flash backs and reaction to dumb tourists that got on my boat on the snake river......I guess I consider Tetons and JH one in the same.

So John you did some white water rafting guiding while there? Recommendations? I wish I could tent camp in the park but realize these people can't do that yet. I might even head back up there after dropping them off at DEN.

Tetons are incredible- but you have to hike. Raft the Snake if you get a chance. Once you're into June Yellowstone gets miserable with tourists, but it's an incredible park. It's like the south Rim of the GC, as long as you walk more than 500 yards, you'll lose 80% of the fat-asses. JH is like Oxford- it was great years ago but has been ruined by rich assholes. Spend a day and walk around. Stay at Signal Mountain Lodge in Tetons. It's on the lake and you can rent boats. I'd spend 3-4 days in Yellowstone if it's a first time trip. First time I brought the family up there we did the trip you describe- across SD and hit Rushmore, Badlands, Devils Tower and into Yellowstone- cut south after and did Rocky Mountain NP and then into NM and home. It's a great trip.

Off to the Con tomorrow. No more opining for a bit.

2009:

Last time there a lot of this happened. Lesson learned. Do not try to keep up with @alvarorb in a drinking game with tequila when it is your night to cook. :)

One of the tsl radials I mounted and balanced the other day took 16 oz.

That's a lot of lead on that back tire.
No telling why it needed all that weight. Those tires came off of Srobs 40. They have seen a bit of action... lol

No spooning will be required Nolen. I know that disappoints you.

Not sure what y'all are talking about. The tent is big, not gonna be required. I'd do it if I had to. No big deal. Whatever it takes to complete the mission. LOL
