my kids are 3 and 9. they go on a lot of road trips with me except for the long distance wheeling stuff ( moab,katemcy,...).

they don't have video games. they don't have dvd palyers. the have books and a few intective gams. they get to check out the scenery and play with each other. they've hardly ever complained about being in the car too long. abby ( 9 ) has started reading the road atlas and she can now tell me which freeways i need to take to get where i need to go. she even points out cruisers to me.

then again, she does have an iphone s well........:princess:

1st Gen iPad's are on order. Small 16g with covers. It will be good.

My kids have grown up in the back of the car. Berk lived in TX until she was 5 and we drove to MS 5-6x a year plus all of my Cruiser/Buggy road trips. They are just getting a bit older where movies won't keep them going the entire time.

My kids would play computers/video games all day if I let them. I hate hand held games because they are so addictive. Just think how addicted we all are to our phones.

Anyway, hopefully I can figure them out and get them all up and going before the trip. 2 days is a long time in the car.

On another note....10 days!

Hate the games too - buy a book

It's a combination if things when you are talking about 4 solid days in the car. Selfishly, it's as much about my sanity.

Hell, give them kids a cap gun and some coloring books like we had and tell em to shut up and stay on their side or Daddy's pullin' over!

Usually Daddy pulls over, get out of the truck (in my inner thoughts I am Screaming my lungs out) and walk around the truck, then back in and drive!

Nothing wrong with it! :hillbilly:

We were driving to Orlando and I told them(kids were 5 & 3) around Houston "whoever misbehave is out of the truck! ...guess who misbehave?

We did not drive that far when my oldest, Jonah said, "Stop the truck Dad, Mom needs to get out of the truck, she's misbehaving and giving us a hard time!"

She's out!:hillbilly:

Kids screaming, wife yelling, shunt flying off trailer. It all will be worth it when you reach the wheeling mecca!!

T minus 8 days 12 hours 35 mins xx seconds !!!!!!!

Oh CRAP - here we go...Boss just emailed and wants to schedule some OPEX training at our facility for...you guessed it... the last week of June. He is trying to reschedule right now so cross your fingers.

FASTEST ROUTE TO MOAB

I-20 to Terrell, TX....merge onto Hwy 80 at MM 500. Take 80 all the way into downtown Dallas. When you pass the Cotton Bowl/Fairgrounds, just before downtown stay in the right lane at all costs. Once you get to downtown you will be slightly underground to the south of downtown.

Merge onto I-35E North (Stemmons Fwy) Follow 35E North

Once you pass Southwestern Medical School (Parkland) get in the left lane and take Hwy 183 toward DFW Airport.

After about 4 miles you will merge right on Hwy 114 toward Grapevine/Southlake.

Take 114 all the way to Hwy 287 (Rhome) Take a right on 287 North all the way to I-40 and Amarillo.

I-40 to Albuquerque

Exit I-25 NORTH in Albuquerque go North about 20 miles to Hwy 550

Turn left on 550 toward Farmington.

FUEL UP HERE Diesel on 550 can be found in Cuba and Aztec, but that is about it. Also, the price goes up after Albu from what I have seen in the past.

Left on Hwy 64 into Farmington. Pass through Farmington to Shiprock.

Right on 491 through Cortez, CO to Monticello Utah. FUEL UP HERE

Right at Monticello on 191 all the way into Moab.

Once you come down the big hill into Moab, look for the KOA on the right just as you get into town.

TIP OF THE DAY

Any place you see a Blake's Lottaburger in New Mexico, you must choose it over any other fast food. Get the Green Chilis on your burger. It's a must do/eat thing in New Mexico. Breakfast Burritos there are also incredible.

Better yet Bossman, schedule having the flu from June 23 to july 4th. the type that can only be cured by a doctor out west.

I might consider this fireman!

need to look for the best route.

according to mapquest I gotta go on I-10 west to forth stockton and then up to new Mexico..... and that's a sorry ass drive.

Wichita Falls is WAY out of the way for you Domek.

Last time Julie and I did Moab, we took that route home and hit Guadalupe Mt National Park. Not a ton to see there but there is an amazing hike that goes up in a spring fed valley in the middle of the desert. Then we hit Carlsbad Cavern National Park and then cut back across TX.

I feel sure we will work something out. He's really a pretty good guy and will do whatever he can to help. It was just one of those moments when you feel your stomach turn over. I'm over it now.
