Probably doing Black Bear and Imogene after the 4th when the crowds dwindle.

Gary, you think the trails will be over run july 2-4th? We plan on being there on the 2nd.

Gary is saying he will wait because that is a busy time. There would be no reason at all for you not to take your Cruiser and family over the hump alone. It is not hard at all, just beautiful. If you get in behind 27 JK's on some kind of 4th of July Jamboree, it might take 4x as long to do it, but as long as you get a decent start on the day, you will be fine.

G has the luxury of waiting out the crowds, but you don't :D There is TONS to do out there. I have a CO Guidebook like the Moab guidebook, pick one up and all the trails are there.

Lenny how many days are you planning on staying/be there in silverthon?

I want to go there at least a day Saturday July 2( just to see the town at least) and maybe half a day of Sunday.

... and start working my way back to Brownsville on Monday July 4th.

just a thought! ....it all depends on how it goes going up there too!

If i buy a guide book im afraid i wont leave ; ).

Plan so far is to be there atleast to the 4th. But could stay longer.

Considering letting my kids buy some used 1st gen iPad's for the trip to Moab.

Will I have to buy a s*** ton of stuff for these things to allow them to use them in the car when we don't have wifi?

We have never had any hand-held games in our family because the kids just check out when they use them.

They are getting older and this is a LONG trip in the car, so I may cave.

I know Chris has them...anyone else have any insight?

Look at apple's web site for their renewed sales. I saved $75 each off retail.
Load them with $30 worth of games and roll.

Once you buy it (game, app, song) with your iTunes account, you can put it on all of your devices with the single purchase.

If ya kids like movies, get a dual screen dvd player and a bunch of movies. Hooks to the back of the headrest. Portable and removable. My kids love it

Leapster explorer handheld games are another option. educational games vs shoot em ups. They will go on the trip as well. Then all that crap will stay in the tow rig. Not travelling across the nation for my kids to watch movies and play video games...

We do that too. Used to work for entire trip but it seems to have lost it's zeal after 2-3 movies.

Well folks things are coming together:
-Fuel injection should be done tomorrow;)
-sliders built & brakes adjusted along the way;)
-trailer bearings repacked today & tires to pressure:D
- started a "Moab" pile in garage..... to be continued:confused:
-started packing stuff....

On the horizon:
Dodge wheel bearing must have known a trip was coming up cause they started making noise on Thursday..... getting replaced on Tuesday!:bang:

See yawl in a couple of weeks- Cant wait!!!:steer:

Get it Clutchee....

I am getting stoked. My pile is growing.

A/C on the Duramax took a dump today while I was out cutting grass at my for-sale house. Glad it decided to do it before the trip. 20,000 miles....WTF?

My Dodge AC has 166K on it!

My Paloma has 299XXX and closing to the 300K miles and she's cool as a cucumber.

...ain't bragging, I am doing some maintenance to it later this week!

Still have pending some maintenance...the alternator, starter, and change a battery terminal.

What's an Ipad?

beats the price of the PSP2!

We got the dual screens and a laptop to play games or movies, well I should say game.
I only bought them one.

guess it's time to buy another one.

I bought a used ipad off of ebay. Got a good deal on it. 32 GB WIFI for 460 shipped. Spent another 70 on a 2 year warranty from square trade. Not a single problem out of mine. Bought a cover and a screen cover. Looks just like new. Its just like an iphone but with a larger screen. Operates exactly the same. I just use the WIFI. I never paid to get the 3G service. I do have the option though if I decide later to add the subscription.

Use Itunes to get free games and also paid games. they have brain cell killing games as well as educational ones. I bought several games for Piper. Granted she is only 4 so I don't know about educational games for older kids.... You can also DL videos from Itunes to watch movies.

Hell, give them kids a cap gun and some coloring books like we had and tell em to shut up and stay on their side or Daddy's pullin' over!

Thought that's what you told Lori.
