Hey cranky pants, people mentions YOU ALL THE time here for proper parts and where to order from. But I guess you don't give a s*** anymore so will recommend people elsewhere.

Yeah, that's a different discussion. One you are not entitled to have with me.

The part number is correct.

So your telling me that wrapping a t shirt around the teeth and then finding the nearest pipe wrench big enough to brace......bad idea eh!!

Very easy to screw up the gear, you need to line the vise with wood according to FSM iirc. I THINK this is the PN, but ask beno to be sure: 44316-60020

Just know, that part number is LIKELY to be wrong.

And how the **** do I end up getting dragged into these conversations?

I have no bone in any of this.

No offense intended. But when I think "parts for land cruiser", I tend to think of you. I guess you've branded your business well. That's why we recommend you. Need a part, buy it from beno. Fact of Land Cruiser life I guess.

Sorry for goin off Topic:

FWIW, I got an "oh, by the way, your PS Pump is leaking" estimate the other day from a local shop while I had my 80 in there for something I really didn't want to deal with...they estimated around $550 - $600 for the replacement, parts and labor...

The second day I owned my LC I lost all PS effort, and brake booster pressure, sure sent me for a 12pk therapy. Got a pump from Autozing, and a seal kit as well and went to a buddies house who's also a master tech and diagnostic smog tech. Fwiw, no leaks, lost all pump effort, back to manual steering so to speak. He said let's do the deal first, it'll take 20/30 min. Did that, no improvement. Put in the Autozone pump, took another hour as we fought the gear and nut setup. I had PS again, but it was loud AF. It groaned like crazy. We shut it down and bled the system a bit more, cracking the pressure line loose and cycling the steering, and a lot of air came out that we thought was ling gone after just regular lock to lock cycling when we initially got it installed. LSS, it still has a slight groan a year later, and I'm a perfectionist on some repairs, so I have a new pump from Toyota in my garage and a gallon of hydraulic oil (the Mobil brand everyone rants about being the bees knees) so I'll dive into that this winter. That booster isn't bad fyi, when yours goes out. There's room to carefully bend the MC out of the way to get the booster out without cracking the lines open. It's about a 45 job as well.

Yeah thanks - that sounds about right cost wise - i ended up doing it myself though - replaced all the low pressure hoses from PHH.kit and used the gates hose from amazon as per above. Sourced the PS pump local - reman unit (so lets see how long this lasts before it leaks ;-)

Most of the time when i work on my car there is a small sense of satisfaction when the job is done and even when doing the job itself - for some reason this was royal pain, really not enjoyable - and to top it off I burred one of the teeth on the PS gear and now its knocking. Its going to the shop to replace this one now- sometimes its better to throw in the towel - and concentrate on other things........like the dual battery setup.....
