So I've removed my valance to fit a grill off a '97. And I think I prefer the look...any reason why I shouldn't make the corner marker lights the blinkers?

I did that for my AOE bumper and I like that it lights up the corner when you signal, much better indication on your intentions. IMO.

My thinking too

Which lens are you talking about?

I did it too. Bulbs and sockets fit right in the market light housing. You could get some cheap trailer lights if you still want markers. Or some 60 series marker lights for a little more class.

I did it for my corner lights when I put my AOE bumper on and DEPO light conversion. I just spliced in a set of 194 size bulb blinker modules into the blinker lines. Just get the ones that are the rubber grommet style. You just drill the hole out of the back of the ABS and plug them in. I went with yellow LEDS and white corner markers. So now my corner markers are almost like diffused projectors and the blinker lights up yellow like it needs to. Only shows the yellow when I hit the turn signal.

Wait. Everything above is so complicated. Why can't you just remove socket from back of turn signal light and plug it into corner marker light? That's what I did. Took 5 minutes, I bought nothing, and its completely reversible (well not for me)....

I have the cheapo eBay clear lights. Maybe they are different?

I looked into doing this too (read: switched it all and put it back before consulting the internets). Technically, in most states, you need a front marker light that can be seen from the side. Now whether or not that will matter/ get you in trouble I'm not sure . I guess it is nice to be seen from the side, but then again, only those in front can see the blinker (one of the very few drawbacks of the design in my opinion, I wish the blinker wrapped around).

Seems like drilling a hole into the marked for the stock blinker bulbs might be easiest. Maybe swap in LEDs while I'm at it.

Go to the junk yard and grab a tail light harness from an 89-93 Toyota Celica. It has the grey socket you need that fits into the OEM marker/corner housing without any mods. This socket is a 3-wire socket and uses an 1157 (dual filament) bulb so you can have a marker and turn signal in the same housing. Splice the Cruiser marker light power to the dimmer filament in the 1157, and splice the blinker power to the brighter filament. The ground from either (blinker harness or corner marker harness) will work. OEM Toyota parts all around and only minimal wiring. Keep the factory blinker in the lower valence if you want, but you won't need it.

Having that corner marker blink also is AWESOME! It makes for a nice bright turn signal that is actually visible to cars next to you.

Any 89-93 Celica will have 1 of the correct grey sockets in each tail light harness. 2 total.
A Celica GT-S model in the same years should have 2 of the correct sockets in each tail light harness. 4 total.
I also found that several years of Nissan Hardbody pickups have one correct socket in each tail light harness.

I know that @cruiserdan used Tundra(?) sockets in his truck, and I'm sure there are other options as well.

I picked up 12 total sockets last time I was at the local Pick-N-Pull, so they're not difficult to find.

I did indeed use early Tundra tail lamp sockets. I harvested them from a damaged lamp. They use 3157 wedge base bulbs. I went with amber bulbs because I have JDM clear corner lenses.

sooo....been thinking about swaping in LED tails...can i use sockets from my own stock tails?

I don't think they're the correct socket, but I'd have to look. Even if you're running LED bulbs, you still need the stock sockets anyways, don't you?

Or, do you have LED tail lights in mind that are hard-wired?
