Hi there,

I live in Las Vegas and lately the temperature has been about 110 F/44 C as always in July. I drive a stock (Canadian) '81 BJ-42 and I noticed that any time the air temp is 105 or more that my 3B just can't stay cool. The temperature keeps climbing and climbing, even when I'm not running the engine at high RPM's (e.g. cruising down the freeway in 4th going 55-60).

I think the problem is that the radiator just need to be flushed/cleaned/rebuilt. Is there anything else I can do to help my 3B stay cool?

The 1st thing to do is give it a new radiator cap. Check all hoses for a tight fit around the clamp. The system must get pressure to stop it boiling around the bores as it will just keep getting hotter.
Are your hoses getting hard after 10mins?
The next thing to do is get the radiator flushed and rodded.
Are you running the radiator shroud? It makes a big difference.
