I vote for Lenny to begin a build thread on the sammy. He does have some toyota parts on it! Also, he is doing some really cool stuff.

OK. only if bossman does one too. purdy truck has one already for his orion..

The stuff built on the samurai is similar to 40 anyway. both are leaf sprung, adequately powered, gear driven tcases.

Mods to both are bigger axles, lower gearing, bigger motor, eventually lifting and or removing springs for something flexier (if not sexier?).

so why not..

Texana

Man, this looks like a fun place. 5000 acres. Tons of roads and trails for the wagons and non-hardcore trucks. Looks like plenty of hard stuff being built too.

My friends have been running the Texas Desert Race series out there for that last 2 years and say it is an amazing place.

I sure would like to go check it out.

11 hours away....looks awesome.....I would definitely be interested in this and/or a return to Bienville

Nolan, Moderators.....should we start a thread on "places CLC should go explore"? Nolan, given his background, seems to have a knack for finding cool places and I definitely want to try that place in Texas, im looking at the webpage, maps now and drooling.

I started in 1997 with the red FJ-40.

I want a trail vehicle and then a cruiser I can do Bienville type rides and take the family in that can double as a DD and trailer hauler.

all I need is to sell the volvo, find an 80, buy a car hauler!!!!

dont think I will ever have the desire for a buggy or anything that extreme....more of a trail/expedition kinda guy...keep my truck for ever like Bho dehan

It was a 96. No factory lockers, but I had a lock right in the rear.

Kaymar rear bumper and cage thingies on the rear lights. It had a "damage multiplier" bumper and those on it when I bought it.

EDIT, found a picture

nolen you going down memory lane?

careful you may want a buggy ;p

I really don't. Yes, I did. My photos before I went digital were all on Photoworks.com. I went the other night to see if I could dig up the pics of the fuel can rack and saw they had been bought out.

I transferred it all over and went through the pics today. Man o man. Tons of pics. All are crappy resolution and small like those but it is great to have a record of all the time from Julie on...about 12 years. My first pics are right after my divorce and all the cool wheeling and traveling through about 4 years ago when I went to Smugmug.

Mandeville, 3 houses in Texas and the move to MS. It was a fun walk down memory lane. I damn sure have bought, built and sold some cool s***.
