Would there be any interest in parts off of my 62 if I parted it back to stock? I don't want to do it, but I have been talking it over with the wife and it might be getting close to time to do it.

Here is my FS thread.
https://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-trailers-sale-wanted/236436-1989-fj62-toyota-landcruiser-4-lift-33s-4-88s-$4500-upstate-sc.html

I can think of the following items that would be of interest: Prices are what I was thinking let me know if I'm off.

$700 - 4" Alcan lift 4 springs and 2 shocks and shock hoops for front.
$1350 - Axles - 4.88 gears and lockrite in the rear (1K miles on completely rebuilt axles gears, and all bearings and seals were replaced.) Includes 4runner brake upgrade.
$400 - 33x12.5x15 BFG MT's on nice aluminum rims.
$125 each - 3 complete rust free blue FJ62 doors (No Drivers front)
$75 each - 2 rust free front fenders
$125 - FJ62 Cruise control

I also have the Brown parts fj60:

$100 each ($300 for all)- 4 doors (90% rust free)
$100- Rust free upper rear hatch
? - Partial 2f
$75 - FJ60 Cruise control
?- PS pump
? - rear axle and all springs (Only if I do not sell my axles)

Am I crazy or? just looking for advice and if I am off on the prices and stuff. In my head the 62 would get parted back to stock and then sell it. ???

I haven't been around much as until I sell the 62 I don't have permission to do very much to the 80 or my Chevy wagon. That and I've been trying to get my garden going. :D

I think you would have better luck selling it the way it is. Personally I would not want to go back thru the hassle of taking it back to stock. Yeah you may make more money parting out the extra's and then sell it as stock. But you've put all that labor into it and you'll put more labor into it taking it back to stock. Neither of which will you get your money back for your labor. I would put a good price on it as it rolls now and then go from there. If nothing else you will save your sanity. Just my .2 cents.

Thanks for the advice Chuck. That is the main reason I havent parted it to this point. (Time and pain to have to do it.) The only reason I am even considering this is that I have been trying to sell it for almost a year now and havent had really anyone serious. All wanting to trade or go nuts when I tell them the price, which is listed everywhere I have it listed.

2 questions for you.

1. Whats a reasonable price for what I have as a package?
2. Are the prices listed above reasonable?

Anyone of the other 16 viewers have an opinion?

$700 - 4" Alcan lift 4 springs and 2 shocks and shock hoops for front.

You can almost buy them new for that price. Used shocks are not woth anything even if they are have just been inztalled. Maybe 500. 400 would get them gone fast.
$1350 - Axles - 4.88 gears and lockrite in the rear (1K miles on completely rebuilt axles gears, and all bearings and seals were replaced.) Includes 4runner brake upgrade. Split the axle price up. Your better just selling the chunks seperate and then the knuckles seperate. 300 each for the chunks and 150 for the lockright and maybe 150 for the knuckles and 100 for the hubs.
$400 - 33x12.5x15 BFG MT's on nice aluminum rims. How much tread is left? If they have more than half the tread then that might be a good price if they are less then you might want to cut that in half.
$125 each - 3 complete rust free blue FJ62 doors (No Drivers front) that is a good deal.
$75 each - 2 rust free front fenders that also is a good deal. Someone will eventually need them
$125 - FJ62 Cruise control Dunno Cannot imagine spend that much on a used cruise control. Don't all 62 have them? Is it something that people really need or can convert to another vehicle?

Good luck on that.
$100- Rust free upper rear hatch
? - Partial 2f does it have the starter? does it have the head? what's left?
$75 - FJ60 Cruise control
?- PS pump
? - rear axle and all springs (Only if I do not sell my axles)
UC is not a group of extremem wheelers we usually take stock springs off and put lift springs on. Pretty sure there are quite a few sets of springs laying around in peoples basements. And the last 60 axle I saw for ssale here ended up going to the junk yard.

If you want money now put it up on e-bay and sell it. If you can wait. 60's and 62's are starting to go back up in price. That being said rusted out ones are not. There are a lot of 60 series out there to choose from. No one in their right mind is going to buy a rusted out one for the same price as one that isn't. People these days want a deal. Only way you will sell what you have is to either wait for the right person or sell it at a lower price. IMO.

I wouldn't be too frustrated by not having any serious offers in the last year, because you're talking about one of the toughest years for the 60 market in a long time. People are still reeling from the gas prices and they still too unsure about the economy to buy an extra rig.
What kind of price were you thinking of asking for your 62 if you put it back to stock? Parting out the rig would bring more cash, but I can't imagine you getting much satisfaction with the price(s) after doing all the wrenching required to pull the aftermarket stuff and bolt the stock stuff back in.
I think you've got some desirable parts. I would really like to take those built axles off your hands, but the price tag is a big turnoff. ***It's not that I don't think you don't have that much cash into them, or that they aren't worth it.*** It seems that in this strange market, people are only biting on killer deals. If you don't want to give someone the deal of the century right now, I think it's best to hold on to your rig and parts if you can.

Thanks for the advice Marshall that's the kind of help I am looking for. Only thing is I cannot seem to get anyone to tell me what a fair price for what I have would be? I priced it all at $4500 so I would have room to budge. I am certainly not going to give it away and the crazy locals keep calling and saying its like a pathfinder and not worht near what I am asking.

I dont need the $ now but I am getting a little flustered with it still sitting here. I still owe some on the 80 and would like to get it paid off with the sale of the 62.

On the lift:
Shocks are new (Although not expensive ones and only 2), the springs last I checked are $200 each new and then you would have to by shackles as well. (I have the anti-inversion ones, that arent cheap.) So thats why I was thinking $700. ??

Whats a reasonable price for built axles? I really just dont want to have to pull them all back apart to just sell the thirds. I figured I could get $800 for the thirds easy. ??

I dont want to take the time to put it back to stock but figured if I could see what the parts could bring I should be able to get $1500-$2000 for my stock truck?
Which to be honest I would let mine and the parts truck go now for under $4K. The right person could part them out and use what they wanted and be sitting fairly nice $ wise. I have considered eBay and used them in the past, but the $ is crazy and you never know who you might end up with. But it has crossed my mind and I will prob run it a few times before parting it. I would like to know how much its worth.

Thanks for the advice and keep it coming. I am just tired of paying insurance on 4 vehicles and 2 of them just sitting here. :D

Right around 4 sounds like a really good deal. Considering what they would be getting. Have you tried Craigs list? Put it up at 3999 and see what bites you get. As mentioned it's a really bad time to sell unless you found someone who cannot do without it.

I don't think your price for the axles is unreasonable, but I don't think in the current market, you can sell them for that. I understand your frustration letting it sit, but If you don't need the cash right now, I bet you can get your asking prices, or close to them once people calm down a little.

Can we see some pics, I might have an interested party (as is)

Let me know if you need anymore. about the lowest I will go at this point is $3900. Any help would be appreciated!

I think the economy, past gas prices, and some rust issues are what is hurting you.

Do you think a little work on the rust would help things? Cut out the rockers and weld in some square stock. Prep the doors inside and out where there is rust and prep the quarters to neutralize rust then rhino line?

If you think this would help let me know. We might be able to arrange a work party.
