Mallet did not work. I used a very flexible putty knife and a small hammer to drive it in and around. I had to go all the way around to release it.

Well at least you got it done. Props for your persistence. Not like you had a choice though. 😄
 
I started my truck and let it run for a while (hot) , moved my truck from drive to reverse couple of times. Once I did that the pan dropped very easily.
Before this, I tried to mallet, tightened with jack etc and none of it worked. I was literally putting all my body weight using the pry side of hammer but it didn't do anything.
 
It will all be worth it, all the maintenance I did (probably to much) including a new PCV valve and Michelin LTX’s my truck is averaging 15.5 where it was just around 13.9-14 before, and runs and drives as smooth as butter!!!
 
After making the decision to keep the LX, dropped it off at my mechanic for the following: new fluids - differential, transfer case, transmission and a new radiator, water pump, hoses, thermostat, fan clutch and drive shaft maintenance and he’s going to check all body mounts and going to make a list of suspension parts that are worn for the next service and new Michelins in September. Hoping I made the right decision!!!

With the 300 being basically MIA from American markets, I did a complete overhaul of the cooling system and a ton of other stuff to ensure that the 200 will last me another 10 years. Did about $10k in maintenance work.

The unveiling of the new Prado made me feel even better about my decision.
