I used a rubber mallet to break the initial seal. Once it breaks just a little, you can get something under it and peel it away.My pan is stuck to the transmission. Any advice how to get it off without damaging the matting surfaces?

Well at least you got it done. Props for your persistence. Not like you had a choice though.Mallet did not work. I used a very flexible putty knife and a small hammer to drive it in and around. I had to go all the way around to release it.
Another option that I found, although better for RTV is this:
Amazon product ASIN B09NMH7TY4There are also other similar options of various quality.
After making the decision to keep the LX, dropped it off at my mechanic for the following: new fluids - differential, transfer case, transmission and a new radiator, water pump, hoses, thermostat, fan clutch and drive shaft maintenance and he’s going to check all body mounts and going to make a list of suspension parts that are worn for the next service and new Michelins in September. Hoping I made the right decision!!!
You made the right decision.I just did the same thing to my truck. Held off to see what Toyota was going to do with the 300. With the 300 being basically MIA from American markets, I did a complete overhaul of the cooling system and a ton of other stuff to ensure that the 200 will last me another 10 years. Did about $10k in maintenance work.
The unveiling of the new Prado made me feel even better about my decision.
