Just so you know, I am no one's DUDE(different era buddy). Sounds like your getting flustrated john.
I see you are comparing an unlocked 80 to a Trac system, that is like comparing a locked 80 to a Trac system. It roles could be reversed. Unlocked is unlocked, no tractions systems what so ever. so apples to oranges with that compareson. I personally seen some drivers with no locks go where people have tried to go with a totally locked vechicle, all driver skill. No aids what so ever, so do not discount the human factor.
No I am not kidding, the 6 is not rattle trap, maybe yours is, but not all of them. it may not rev as quickly, nor have the extra 500 rpms you have, but they can be smooth.
When is it proper to tell any one to SHHHHHHHH, only when one gets flustrated and start to loose there ablity to reasonably debate any issue.
I do beleive that the trac system works, I beleive it can work well. It may work better than some drivers with a locked rig, then again. it may not work as well as some drivers with a locked rig (be it a 100 series or a 80). Your right in saying I have not experenced the Trac system, I can not afford the rig that has a well balanced system yet. One day I may get the chance, until then I can wait.
later John, i have some 4 year old kids to attend to. robbie

Hee hee. I'm not frustrated. This is awesome. Actually, I'm REALLY happy right now. Just got back from Hooters and 911 wings SUPER wet. Ahhhhhh....... :)

Robbie. Be cool bro (are you a "bro"?). The TRAC system will NEVER work better than a fully locked rig Robbie. So......your safe buddy (are you a buddy?), a locked 80 will out do a TRAC 100 so I'm sure you're happy for me to write this (though I have before).

Here's my LAST post on this topic (though it's been a blast):

An owner of equally modified 80 and 100 rigs SHOULD be more credible than:

An owner of just a 100
An owner of just an 80
An owner of both, though they're modified differently
An owner of neither

I luv BOTH my Cruisers, though they are different animals. I am credible. Do YOU fit into one of the above 4 scenarios? If so, then take it a bit easy on criticism until you learn FIRST-HAND about both vehicles. :)

anybody would like to make a motion and somebody second it that I lock this thread and throw the key away...?

Thank you e, this is getting ridiculous and, moreover, really shows a riff between LC owners within their own brand. I mean come on Robbie/John. You both have great vehicles. You both may be great drivers. Leave it at that. This thread has just proven to B, if I were he, that we cannot even stay focused for one thread to make a comparison between a Rover and a LC. The thread started poorly "convert a guy" and now has ended just as poorly.

We still need faq items. Put the damn energy into that.

Juke

Come on now......that's some of the fun in using the forum. Just don't read the thread then if it bothers you? :) That's your right. Have a good day ya-all! :)

Yes I fit into one that owns a 80 (use to be two, both modifyed). And what I do for a living is maintain and customize cruisers(60, 80, 100's). So I think that the knowledge I have lands me into a different catagory. I apoligize if I gone beyond when I try and dispell myth's and just plain Bull Sh*t. But numbers and facts are that, conjector and opinion are just that also.
So where do you draw the line. If a person continually spews opinion and conjector as fact then who and when does the facts come out. I continully state I will have a 100 some day, I beleive they are a great rig. I do not have any riffs with 100 series, but the continous Crap that comes out of anyone person's mouth is a little irritating at time. Yes there is some content at times to Johns statment but for the most part he does not work on his trucks and defends his statement with hearsay, or personal experences from the seat the pants with out hearing what others are saying, or giving any credence to the facts. enough said by me on this in this thread.
I to agree that most threads like this end poorly, and will in the future if facts are not presented along with the overzelous mouthing of any one person.

the 100 series is an inprovement over the 80 in many areas, is it a vast or superior inporvement, that can be shown in a few ways. With the numbers, with documents and with statement from owners. Some times with statements from owners need to be corrected in the misinformation, That is all I am trying to do.
As for FAG, there was some information I posted to this thread that can be moved to that section if wanted.
This is in no way personal.
Yes john, buddy or buddies is ok.
see you in moab or on the trail.

Absolutely Robbie. Maybe I'm having too much fun on this forum? I take this all in fun, even the digs. On these treads in particular I wait axiously for one's next come-back. Some have been hilarious. I'm also in sales, so that might shed some light regarding whatever vs whatever? I'm in here sellin' sometimes and that's some of the fun of it (for me). :)

I can tell that some people can get pretty worked up about comments. Being writing it's hard to tell one's true intent behind it. To those, sorry if I "worked you up".

Any how, I'll be taking THE 80 out this weekend with a bunch of Jeep buddies. We'll have a blast together. They know I have the utmost respect for their Jeeps (just like I do my Rover buddies, and my Taco buddies....etc.). That might surprise you by the way I post in here. Reality is, in real life, I don't put anybody's ride down....well, H2's are close. :D
I might also add that while I might like my 100 better, I probably have more respect for my 80 (???) because of what I can do in it. (Don't repeat that anybody!) :)

Hey, the day you guys in AZ start wheeling serious is when you start rating trails out of 10 :D or maybe you do, since your 80 & 100 can do all the 3.5 trails. What about the 9's.

Why do you think I haven't been on the Rubi or to Moab yet? I'M SCARED! :D
(Naw, it's having kids that don't like wheeling. Brats! :) )

Personally, my 1992 is the best all-around 4wd I've ever owned. Sure it's slow with the 3FE, gets bad gas mileage which gets worse with a roofrack/tent etc., but it will get me wherever I want to visit with a reliability that is nothing short of pure comfort. That's with 196,000 miles on it!

That being said, I really like the 100s. For my purposes, which are mild wheeling, travel, search & rescue and camping it would be an incredible all-around vehicle with the same fantastic build quality and long service life. My wife is even pushing me to upgrade once she pays off her Subaru...
