Question: The rear shocks you bought are the same as the fronts...correct? You just had Wheelers preassemble the fronts with the coils right? Also, were the front and rear both set to the same perch? Thanks, Steve :)

Yes Bilstien front and rear, Rears don't have a perch to adjust. Fronts on the lowest setting. They pre assembled them. The cost is fair as the supply a bunch of new parts.

Rocky Road Outfitters Sliders arrived today. Very well wrapped. Perfect Condition. Look great. It may be a while before I get these installed. Baby Girl "Eden Olivia" is only 7 days old today.

They look solid. I am sure they will be enough for the light abuse I will give them. They do attach to the Pinch Weld and the Frame.

GX470 Rock Sliders: Lexus GX460 and GX470 Rock Sliders

These are the Super Sliders. They also extend out past the truck more then the stock running boards. That should make her happier.

What size tires did you go with? When time comes I plan to copy your lift. Rode in my cousin's '03 V8 4Runner last weekend with the Bilstein shocks. Was a very nice ride.

Hey thanks for the feedback. Do you know the part # of the rear Bilstein 5100 shocks. I ordered the fronts put together(like you did) and the rear springs you got, but the guy from Wheelers wants to make sure I get the correct rear shock. I'll post up pics once I get the stuff in. Good stuff. The sliders look nice too.

When the snow melts off enough take it for a spin up into Montezuma Basin south of Aspen, on the approach to Castle Peak. My wife and I went up there a couple of years ago but didn't have my FJ40 ready. We reserved a 4WD at the Aspen airport and expected a Tahoe - they didn't have one so they let us have a Suburban. I was a little concerned about the longer wheelbase until I checked the ground clearance - the same amount as on my 4WD Silverado, so we made a run at it. There were a few minor challenges, but made it up to the Montezuma Mine without dragging bottom once. On the hike back to the parked vehicle we met another couple and they asked us if there were any 14,000-foot peaks in Utah (the rental had Utah plates, so they thought we were from Utah). I replied that no, we weren't from Utah, it was a rental. They looked kind of surprised that we'd take a rental up that very rough 4WD road. Beautiful scenery, plus we got snowed on coming down from the summit.

I just installed the first 8 inch's or so of the older running boards. I can cover the holes with the clips and you will not know the difference as the color is the same.

Looks great. I did the same, covered the first 8" or so with the old running boards, kinda wish I would've done the entire length to create a better seal on the door but I didn't have the patience.

It was a matter of removing them to install the trim or just doing the first 8 inch's. It was not worth taking them back off when I can not really see the difference with the doors closed unless you look really really close.

Never thought about the issue of wind noise. DANG. I have been driving them like that for a week or more. Never noticed it I THINK. Perhaps once. But it gets windy here.

Thanks! I will let you know how it turns out!!

UPDATE:

I went on a two day trip. Slept in the back after taking out the second row seats. That was easy enough and very comfortable and quit compared to a tent.

I did some more challenging trails here in Colorado. Mostly old Mining trails. Went up to 13000 feet. I just had a blast. The truck was amazing. So much better then the stock 06 Tundra. I never once hit a skid plate or did any damage. I did get off trail once and had to descend a trail that was pure scree and very slick. The KO2's are amazing, the suspension is comfortable and capable. It does not bounce down after a dip going downhill and slam the front skid on a rock. It climbs great. I could not be happier. I leave for Ouray in a couple days. Can't wait.
