The two 100s I’ve owned had/have grey from the factory under the hood. Unless I’m missing something, I have no intention to spray the engine bay. The door jams will definitely be sprayed. Also, it’s already had a complete respray from gunmetal grey to the black it is now, that’s a shame. I guess in my estimation, as long as there is no rust, you have a decent body and good, up to date service history, resale on these seem to hold their own pretty well here in the states, at least for now until the economy finally burns to the ground.

My quicksand 4v6 color with contrasting black door handles and black rear panel vents…just to add a bit of perspective.

This is the color I’ve decided to go with. Though, instead of using black, I’m thinking a gray metallic for the accents….finally made it to the body shop😅

It’s coming along nicely. Removed the body trim and welded up the holes.can wait for it to be done!

Initially, I found in a little difficult to swallow the price of a complete color change. However, the shop owner is a good friend of mine and I didn’t want to haggle him, and I thought it would bless him…..seeing how the work is coming along, I believe I am getting a really good price!

It is interesting how dark or light this color appears depending on lighting

^^^^^

That is my only trouble with it. I LOVE it in low light where it looks darker (and richer color). But once in bright light it quickly appears a bit too light (washed out) for my liking.

But it is a great color overall for the LC.

I believe it’s darker still than what the lighting shows, though I can’t be certain. Those are some pretty bright lights to find a fix imperfections. If you look at the drivers side front fender and a-piller the true color should be closer to that. At least that’s what the Tacoma’s and Tundra’s in quicksand look like to me. While I prefer the lighter kind of desert beige, I think the slightly darker quicksand will be a good compromise between a light or dark color. The darker shade of it on the roof does make me wonder how Toyota’s army green would look though 🤨

Great thread thanks for sharing.

Any updates @mp_cude ?

Love the look!!!

I'm *VERY* (unapologetically) biased, but for me Land Cruisers shouldn't be metallic/pearlescent/mica paint, they should have utilitarian colors (blame my native Third World youth for this view). Obviously Toyota (and probably many of you) disagrees with me!:p

My Land Cruiser below was originally "Imperial Jade Mica" and I hated it from the moment I saw it, I always knew that when the clearcoat eventually failed I would change the color. She was painted in 2018 and I've loved the color ever since.

My white 100 has very oxidized paint from 25 years parked outside and it can no longer be saved. At some point, I'm going to paint it, and I already have a non-US Land Cruiser color (non metallic) picked out for it. Stay tuned for that one!

Definitely look forward to something different, but IIRC white on 100 series is single stage, you would be surprised at how much oxidation can be removed since you aren't dealing with claercoat. I've seen cars get full repaints that just needed an aggressive polish. Not saying that's the case here but something worth looking into if you aren't already familiar.

Yes, you're correct on the single stage but the paint is in rough shape. This isn't going to happen this year (or next, either), the joys of having multiple Land Cruisers but only one budget for repairs/improvement/modifications is the never-ending balancing act! Right now we have some mods going on the Melon (100 series above), some repairs to the BJ42, and a new starter going into the white 100 series....

The only time I find myself daydreaming about being wealthy is when I am simultaneously daydreaming about Land Cruisers I wish I could own🤣😅

While I do love the metallic colors, on an Avalon or Sienna or Ls, I have to agree with you concerning the Land Cruiser. The reason we got the short end from Toyota is because of marketing. Toyota had in mind to make the LC a luxury model here in the US, which I believe led to its eventual demise. If Toyota marketed basic LC models here and all of them, I’m sure they would have done much better. The beauty is the utility, function over form which for me makes its form beautiful.

That looks beautiful! If you remove the factory roof rack you could be part of a UN convoy somewhere! :D
