I'd love to see Mullen pull a Tommy Tuberville and fire up a cigar on the sidelines mid way through the 3rd quarter and still running fake fieldgoals when we're up by 30..

Maybe we could practice the Annexation of Puerto Rico. One of my all time favorites.

On a side note, Nickoe Whitley is out for the season with a ruptured achilles. I was really looking forward to Nickoe introducing himself to the freshmen Bear receivers.

Nickoe Whitley hit on Morgan Newton and La'Rod King - YouTube

they would have heard foot steps and "dropped" the ball when he got to the 10 yard range anyway

I wish Ole Miss would hire Mike Leach to replace Nutt. Not gonna happen, but I can dream.

Nutt beat the crap out of Leach's best Texas Tech team in the Cotton Bowl. How soon we forget.

I didn't forget. I was at the Cotton Bowl for that game. Leach's team became overconfident after upsetting No. 1 Texas. OU beat 'em worse than Ole Miss, something like 65-20. I still think Leach would be an excellent hire, better than what they've had in recent years. He'd certainly shake things up.

He'd be good for sure. The problem is that the Bear's schedule gets even tougher next year. Sean Peyton would have a tough time getting more than 4 wins.

By the way, Mississippi Southern lost to UAB tonight. I guess we will have to wait till next year for them to dethrone the '72 Dolphins. They still could play State in the Liberty Bowl though.

But Ole Miss still won't play them and we all know why...

UAB seems to have a hex on Southern Miss.

What's the story on Ole Miss refusing to play USM? My uncle is semi-connected to the OM administration. He says they dropped USM from their schedule after being regularly embarrassed on the playing field. Any truth to that?

Edit: FWIW, according to my uncle, USM beat Ole Miss 5 out of their last 7 meetings. The last game was in 1984, with USM winning.

There's nothing to gain from either State SEC school playing Southern.. If you win, your supposed to.. if you lose, you get a big "WTF?" from your fan base and recruits... lose/lose situation. I'm glad State is picking them up, but truthfully, it is a bad idea.

Last night Southern Miss was worried about what hotel to stay at for the Sugar Bowl.
Don't have to worry about that now....

There may be nothing to gain from a MSU USM Liberty Bowl but it would sure fill the stands.

They were up 14-0 when I left for a beer run, and already falling apart by the time I got back. Isn't UAB the worst team in the conference? Houston will probably hang 60 points on USM, if they get to the championship game.

State quit playing them at about the same time and our record looks much the same, though most losses were from forfeited wins. Way back in the day, State and Ole Miss would schedule USM between BAMA, AUBURN, etc and FLORIDA, Georgia, ect. All the while, USM was sandwhiching that game between Directional State U and Name the City College. This was fine until they started getting good. Pefect example is when Ole Miss beat the crap out of #3 Notre Dame then loses to USM the following weekend. We both started dropping games to them and when it was time to reschedule we either tried to move them or just dropped them all together. Can't remember which as I was 9 when I was in those meetings. At any rate, we were able to stick them at the front of our schedule for either 2013 or 14 and have them there for at least 2 years.

The New Orleans Bowl is basically the same as the Sugar Bowl.:D

"Not so fast my friend."

Southern stunk it up last night. BIG TIME.
Memphica is the worst team in CUSA.
Southern was suppose to get it handed to them by SMU. Didn't happen.

We will see...

Interesting. Thanks for the history lesson. I'm way out of the loop, didn't know USM was back on State's schedule.

I keep hearing that Fedora will jump to a bigger school after this season, but he may have shot himself in the foot with last night's choke. Maybe he'll go up the road to Ole Miss and Southern Miss will hire Mike Leach.

Fedora's agent puts his name out there for every coaching job available. Can't say I blame him if he could make more money. Think he makes $800k a year. Houston coach makes 1.3 mill.
