I haven't had a problem yet with my k&n cold air intake but, iv been told multiple times they mess with your MAF/ TB sensers, because of the oil used in them so try and find a none oil based cold air intake.

Cold air intakes are for Honda lowriders.......I would look at snorkels. That way when you go through a six inch puddle you dont hydrolock your engine

X2, they are worthless. I think they want about $200 for a K&N FIPG. If you have one stay away from water, trust me :D.

K&N

I've got a K&N cold air intake in my 01 Taco. It has done pretty damn good. It has upped the performance and helped with gas mileage. I've done some off-roading with it with lots of dirt/dust roads and haven't had any problems.

I used to use them years ago, a Jeep-era wheeling mod I thought was clever. The filter does not give you something for nothing (more air + better filtration). To increase flow the filter lets more particles by (even with their oil). Now if you're running a race truck that gets torn down every 5,000 miles anyway the additional airflow could be a benefit negating the additional wear on components.

I can't find the link but this has been extensively discussed in the 80's section. My truck came with the K&N FIPG, I had to slow down at puddles (in town, not even wheeling) or else I would suck in water. Then when I actually got to cross deep water it really got a good sip. Search 80's tech for K&N.:grinpimp:
