Coil springs for AHC (1 Viewer)

I just skimmed through the thread and am looking for some clarity, with the king coils in the rear, is the AHC still able to drop down to the L position? my AHC struggles when I have people in the 3rd row seats or excess gear. I am hoping replacing my tired 20 year old coils will fix this. I still need to be able to get in the low position to fit in my garage with a roof rack though.
mine has no problem dropping down to low, even with my drawers removed right now (I'm rebuilding them). With the drawers full of tools/gear and the dissent rear tire carrier I have coming, they'll be perfect with the extra weight.

awesome! thanks @bamabrock
Man, I just recycled my 01 stock rear AHC springs. I replaced them and added a 30mm spacer when I refurb'd my AHC. My pressure's didn't change much at all with the new springs (hence adding the 30mm spacers). I could have given them to you. If you can find a pair of used 30mm spacers locally, maybe that'll solve your problem for less money? My 100 is built similar to yours but haven't had a problem yet with 8 people in it.

thanks @trdcorolla , I ordered some immediately after getting confirmation from bama lol

I have the Kings with 30 mm spacers and no issues at all dropping into low. They ride good just a tad stiffer than the OE coils. The main benefit in my installation was that it brought my pressure down and made it easier to adjust back to spec pressure.

Ordered these last weds. Shipping said they would be here December 8th..... I was stoked to have them delivered yesterday and was able to easily install them in 15 minutes last night. AHC goes to all levels easily, I did a quick test drive. Felt pretty good. I will be excited to test these out with a loaded truck soon.

I love my kings also. Did/do you notice any vibrations after install? I swear I noticed it afterwards. Its stiffer in the back just how it should be. Don't seem to sway as much anymore.

I only drove about a mile and it was late. I didn’t notice any vibration. What I did notice this morning was some rubber wrap on the lowest coil ring of the stock springs. I didn’t swap these over to the new coils..... wondering if I will feel any vibration or anything like that because I didn’t use them. I know on my 80 and other rigs there wasn’t a rubber in that location. Anyone have feedback on this?

I used them from the stock coils. Still there. Slighty though. A mechanic told me that the new coils could show wear in the driveshaft ujoints. Change of the angle on older ujoints (162k)? Possible

While researching replacement oem AHC springs for a friend of mine with a UAE spec 100 series with 1HD-FTE with a rear sub tank (I'm so jealous!) I came across this interesting observation. LHD 100 as a 15mm taller springs on the LH while RHD 100 has same springs on both sides.

Are those the same as part numbers: 48231-6A730 & 48231-6A740? I believe I recall something to the extend of the Lexus springs being longer and the Toyota ahc springs having a stiffer spring rate. I am looking for ones that would provide the softest ride possible, and don’t have much permanent rear weight besides an occasional tow under 3,000 lbs.

Side note but does anybody else have issues with being able to see where the Ahc fluid lies in the reservoir? I can’t see into the reservoir to count gradations from L to H.
I use a flashlight and put it right on the AHC reservoir. This will show you right where the fluid is at. Just mark it with tape and then count the change.

Different part numbers are not the same parts. The brown dot springs give the ahc a lower pressure, making it easier to carry a bit of load and giving the globes an easier life.
You can get 48231-6A730, 48231-6A740, 48231-6A750 (H=455mm, pink), 48231-6A770 H=485mm, purple) or 48231-6A780 (H=500mm, brown). All will fit, but having slightly different lengths and/or rates. You can have 2 different ones with the longer/stiffer on the left, to help the TBs balancing the truck, or just leave the extra weight on the left to the TBs. Both methods are used.
I guess it comes down to what you can get hold of, as some might be out of stock, I've heard.

Interesting that RHD using the same springs and LHD doesn't. Is anyone using brown dot springs on both sides of an LHD? I added about 250# of constant weight in form of roof rack, a drawer, and fridge/fridge slide (no plans for bumpers). Based on my current neutral pressures, I don't think it's enough weight to get King springs, but need to replace my 20 year old/230k mile LX470 coils. New globes are also in my future.

That would be great, but I doubt that all these springs are for the AHC version. If you look at the two first shots of parts list below, one for the ahc version and one for the conventional, you see that it's the same springs on both. Then, on other parts lists, the springs for ahc are mentioned specifically, both on EU and US trucks (shot 3 & 4).
We need the thickness of the springs as well - the AHC springs are much thinner than the non-ahc ones, even if the length is the same.

Not all LHD cruisers have a heavier or longer spring on the LHS (se pics). The cruiser is heavier on the left because of the tank and the driver. On a RHD that would be a bit more balanced.

I'm running two Brown springs, and the rear pressure is still at the upper end of the specs.

Hi DJcloz and team, been following the thread and have a 00 Lx470 with AHC, looking to replace my 20 yr old rear coils. May I ask what is the part # and where did you order? Love to swap these out soon. Cheers and thx in advance.

Hi team, is this the part #Part Number: KTRS-79-1

I have a 2000 lx470.

Thx and cheers,

i need some help folks. when i lifted my 80 i saved the rear springs and am going to swap them into my 2001LX as i mod/add weight. my issue is this:

on the rear axle, i cannot seem to get the bottom of the AHC shock off the stud and i really don't want to force it and hurt myself or the vehicle. i have it at full droop, and i believe that is the shock at full extension no? shouldn't it just slide off the stud without having to remove the top end?

thanks for any help.

I used a pry bar to get the shock/ram off the lower mount. The axle droops more than the shock, so the weight of the axle, plus the bind of the bushings is holding it in place.

thanks for the quick reply!
did you open the AHC bleed valve or just make sure the shock was extended all the way out?
