The 2016 motor vehicle use maps were just released. Hard copies are always available for free at Forest Service offices. The link above is for an interactive mapping app, that shows your position on the GPS enabled map. I am not familiar with the Avenza app, but may load it and give it a whirl.

FYI: Many of the GPS apps can still be run in non-data consuming "airplane mode." If that is s concern. Now, getting cell service, that is another story...

I assume this works with no cell service? Was wondering if my old Garmin (over fifteen years) but phone mine be a better option.

I looked at the map online and noticed a few wildcat quad trials that weren't in the area when I first bought property map that had made the earlier maps are now gone. Earlier map also showed a loop across a impassable canyon has been removed.

Yes it works without coverage. Between this app and Topomaps (another app where you download individual free topos) my Garmin rarely comes out of the glovebox.
