CHRISTMAS PARTY, Saturday, December 9, at Elephant & Castle Pub, 3500 Cessna Drive, Richmond. We will put a map on Mud as to how to get there both from Vancouver and from the Hwy 99 from Surrey. Details to be arranged but so far we decided it will be $15. each for paid up members and partners. We are spending $1500.00 on raffle prizes and we expect it will be similar to last year with the mezzanine games room upstairs and a choice of Roast Turkey, Yorkshire Beef, or B.C. Salmon, meal served at 7:00 pm. . Free parking and a bartender like Heidi last year. WE NEED A HEAD COUNT AS TO WHO IS COMING AND THE DEADLINE WILL BE BY THE NOVEMBER 9 MEETING. Members at this meeting so far have committed about 21, however we expect at least 40-50 and we need to know for sure.
Unfortuanately, Santa will not be available because he has a paying gig at Bowen Island.

Lots of great Christmas Party raffle prizes:
Mechanic's Creeper, LED light for head, camouflage tarp, DeWALT drill, sander, and Brad nailer. Splitter axe, Rescue harness, 10 amp SawZall, Black & Decker cordless drill with toolbox and drills. Laptop soft case, 8" bench grinder, aluminum metre rule, aluminum 24" calipers, 5 piece Vise Grip set, heavy duty battery tester, tool stand, rolling tool cart, and a multi-pliers tool. We are also hoping to buy a high end 259 piece Maximum professional socket and wrench set, although the stores are out of stock and we will get one through a raincheck if possible. Also, hopefully one of those big Japanese remote controlled battery FJ40 toys. See photo below:

So... this is your last chance to sign up for the Christmas party, so let me know right away or be disappointed.

P.S. Rabecca and John, you HAVE to make your mind up as I am submitting the numbers to the restaurant next week.

The price on the RC fj40 has increased a bit due to higher overhead than originally anticipated. They are 234 USD, which amounts to about 265 CDN delivered.
On the one I ordered in, I had Mot declare its value as 200 USD, which ended up costing an extra 34 CDN in duties. When Jake ordered his, he had it declared as only 60 USD value which ended up costing nothing (something about 60 or under there is no duty to be paid).
The packaging mine came in was excellent (Mot had custom cardboard boxes made to protect the original box they come in), with no shipping damage at all. From what I;ve heard, the same for everyone else.
So, does this price increase still fall within our budget?, and if so, I'll order it per Jakes method.

.
a bit pricey but this RC is cool ,rare ,and almost unobtainable in N,America. whoever wins this will love it :grinpimp: . great raffle prize .why don't you guys add a 50/50 draw to the party to get some of the extra cash back needed to buy the RC . just a thought .

 .Jake

I just bought another Christmas Party raffle prize: a red rolling tool cart. I think I've spent around $1,000. so far, with another $500. to go! Have a raincheck for the 259 piece socket/wrench set. Gotta love shopping for hardware! Yahoo!! The model FJ40 and the wrench set will hit $1500. Quick, somebody stop me!

Somebody wants to know what the aluminum 24" calipers in the raffle prizes are good for.
CRIKEY! They can be used to measure the Cranial Index for one thing! (See picture below) Or for more mundane things like cranberries, crankcases, crampons.....There's no limit.

Directions to Elephant & Castle from Surrey Hwy 99

To get to the Elephant & Castle, 3500 Cessna Dr., Richmond Delta Hotel from Highway 99 coming from SURREY:

1. Before reaching the Oak St. Bridge, take the Bridgeport Road exit. When you reach Bridgeport, go LEFT (WEST).
2. Head West along Bridgeport over the Airport Connector Bridge and take the ramp toward Cargo/Miller Rd/South Terminal.
After 100 metres, take the Cessna Dr. ramp and go about 200 metres.
3. Bear LEFT on the Cessna Dr ramp and go about 60 metres.
4. Turn RIGHT at Cessna Dr (avoid bus loop) and go 13 metres.
5. Turn LEFT into Richmond Delta Hotel and go around back to the river. The Elephant & Castle is the building on piles in the river.
6. Parking should be free, but just to make sure they know you, tell the staff your licence plate number when entering.
Our lounge is upstairs.
