60 day countdown...

tranny, new clutch, new master clutch cylinder and replacement slave cylinder is all in, should be good to go for another 300K miles.

all my extra gear including spare parts ought'a come in well under 500 lbs. I'd think.

Any thoughts on what we need to bring/coordinate in the way of cooking/camping gear so we don't bring a lot of repetitive junk, no need to have 6 camp stoves and 12 frying pans. I know we discussed grabbing local food but at the same time morning coffee requires at least 1 camp stove.

I will bring the kitchen with enough gear to cook some meals and a couple tables Still considering the 20x20 canopy. You all need tent/tent cot sleeping bag ,a chair and a coffee cup.

Alrighty, booked a one-way flight into Albuquerque where Andy and Bobby are gonna pick me up Sunday evening. There's absolutely no chance there is gonna be an issue with this plan... :hmm:

Will likely be flying out of Denver on the way back via Southwest.

Roger--Looks like I gotta get you my truck and some diesel $$ sometime in September. We'll figure out an exact schedule but I'm looking at the weekend of Sept. 26th right now.

Anyway, got skin in the game now.

@tkinze you should throw that diff cover in the front seat so I can ease by Manchester and pick it up :)

The 26th will work, if Andy can bring his up Monday or Tuesday we can get them loaded and the rig weighed. I plan to leave out midday Saturday and if all goes well we should be in Moab Sinday evening.

Saturday was a long day of spinnin' wrenches, but I almost did yesterday on the way back. Didn't really know where you were in relation to where we were and we weren't sure what our time line was going to be so I didn't bother. Cause knowing me I would have wanted to try to make it work, then I would have spent too much time BS'ing and then, well you get the picture.

Next time we will have to try to grab a

trust me I get it, there are times when I like to sneak in and out of town too. Saturday was shop day at Johns and Sunday I spun my wheels around the house all day only to complete nuthin' anyway.

That said, Steve apparently you didn't catch my earlier comments about spare parts. I'm going to have minimal room so would like to coordinate what you're bringing in the rolling workshop. I'll have a couple spare 4.10 diffs, drive shaft, and a couple axle shafts but not much more.
The reason for the side trip time frame in the middle is because that's when Andy Jordan will be passing through there on his way to Moab. Otherwise, I think we'd have to schedule it as the finale and head home from there, which can't happen because I'll have Ted's rig. While I completely agree with the logic about serious breakage, I also know that I'm not going to want to leave for two days (presumably Wed/Thurs) and then come back and unload for just one day in Moab, only to load up to go home a day later.

Parts I will have:
New TrailField 30spl long side, used OLF 30spl short side, loose & noisy sq driveshaft, three rear axle shafts (1 chromo, 1 stock, 1 non-IFS), two sets of RCV drive flages, one 27spl TG chromo Birf, one stock Birf with both stock shafts, 5.29 ARB HP front, 5.29 Detroit rear, set of XJ rear lift springs (51" I think), 6" All-Pro shackles, one pair of Revolver shackles, one set of used front wheel bearings, poly bushings that fit my AP leaf springs, one pair of TRE's, my old tie rod with one TRE & one heim, one or two 38x14.50x15 SX spares.... I'll add more as I come across stuff. Let me know if there's anything anyone needs (for the trip or at all) from a 3rd gen 4x4 that I'm parting out.

Headed to Denver fully loaded Friday:steer: (18,000 + lbs) Pray for me!
Lots of trail riding planned between then and when I meet you guys in Oct!

Good list Steve. I was just hitting the highlights on my list but can you quantify all of the nuts and bolts while you're at it, want to make sure i don't bring anything you already have. :moon:

Hendog - Don't break your junk.

Still trying to figure our my return flight. Option 1 is to fly out of Salt Lake City and option 2 is Denver. Will need to bum a ride from someone.

Let's see here... leaf pack center pins (2-3), knuckle studs (2), knuckle wiper seal bolts (3-4)... and maybe one or two or fifty other things.

Either should work I'd think. I can't speak for Andy, but I assume he may be able to drop your ass in Denver whereas I could drop you (near) SLC.

Andy has offered but will require a 4 hr out of the way trip for him and I don't wanna put him out that far.

I could go out of GJ but that nearly doubles the flight cost.

SLC is cheapest so I'm hoping you can drop me in SLC near the airport. If that doesn't work maybe Hendog can get me to Denver, I'll give him a shout pending your plans.

Either way I need to come to a solution sometime this week.

Another option, we could drop you in Albuquerque, there is a truck stop a couple miles from the airport.

What day are you planning to fly back? I live in Denver and will be happy to give you a lift if we are both leaving moab or Junction the same day....

Thanks guys, gives me options. Assuming the crowd is departing on the 17th this is my plan as well. The intent is to catch an evening flight out on that Saturday and depending on what materializes in the way of rides will dictate the flight time. Southwest Airlines allows flight changes at no cost so in theory I have some flexibility using them.

As of right now SLC is the desired choice both in terms of cost and distance but not married to it, will explore deeper and hopefully have a plan in place in the next few days.

On a side note... talked to Hendog and he pointed out that the Balloon Fest in Albuquerque is the weekend of Oct 3rd. Explains why most of the flights were booking fast.

I bet they have UBER in SLC, could just grab one of those into the airport from wherever you get dumped at.

I plan to leave the 17th as well. If you decide to go the Denver route I can drop you off at the airport.

Return flight resolved. Going out of Grand Junction on a 1:50 flight via United Airlines. Now just need to yogi a ride to the airport from one of you bums!!
