Looks like there's a wear ring on the shaft right by the hole that needs dressing off.
Can you back-off the slave (or just remove it) and then push / tap the arm gently towards the fully engaged position, then inspect again.
The bearing should pull away slightly

I'm going to, in deep humility, close this thread. Turns out, this ordeal was completely a ROOKIE MISTAKE. Yes, I admit it, I did not do a thorough item by item diagnosis, which resulted in a trip down the rabbit hole that had no rabbit. Had I just continued to adjust the slave push rod inward to begin with, I'd not be in this humbling position.
