FJ80---UHHHHhh it says F&R lockers for $2500?! Someone needs to go check this out before I have a moment of weakness!
1993 Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD

WOW! Looks like a good deal but just how much work does the engine need. Kief has already called I know it!!! :p

Odd thing, it appears to have a 95+ center arm rest. Don't believe a hard swap... but just saying. The dash angle I can't tell, that would be more defining of what it is... I suppose.

x2

The dash looks like a 95+ to me as well. It has the early grill on it though (Toyota instead of the sombrero).

Those aren't OEM wheels either.

Nope

I never called on this one.

This one has been on and off the block for months.. I'm pretty fat with projects and slimmer every day on $$$$$$

..

Lol, that response is awesome...does the guy know he had different pictures in his older ads? Someone needs to make an actual appt with the dude in order to confirm its locked and maybe listen to the engine. Even if you just parted it out you could still make some money. That front seat looks brand new especially for it having 248k. You guys say the console is different too. Maybe it was involved in some sort of accident that required replacing the interior? Maybe fire or water damage?

I noticed that too, but the vinyl seats hold up extremely well. I've seen plenty of pics where once cleaned up they look virtually new, so that isn't as big a red flag to me.....

My 93 has an center armrest just like it and the dash looks early to me. You can just barely see it by the upper lh side of the steering wheel but it does not look squared off like the later ones.:meh:

Took a look at this today.

Guy says he wants $2k for it, I have a feeling that $1500 cash would win him over.

On the good side:
It is a 93, has vinyl seats that are in decent shape but all of them are damaged (even the 3rd row). Other than that, interior looks in good shape.

It does have lockers, didn't test them but the wiring and e-lockers are physically there as well as the dial.

Tires look new. Aftermarket rims.

On the bad side:
It's been in at least one front end accidents. Didn't look major to me, but bumper is pretty well pushed in. Couple of junk yard parts in the engine bay (AFM and a couple others). Needs new radiator (looks like they used epoxy to try and patch cracks that were seeping in the upper tank). Battery was beyond dead, so I suspect it needs replaced.

Engine was majorly pressure washed, so difficult to say what is leaking and what isn't. It wasn't washed underneath, and it looks like the bottom of Ty's truck. Likely rear main seal is letting go, not the end of the world but probably uses a quart of oil per 1k miles.

The really bad is that I think it needs a new engine. Has a nasty knock from the back half of the engine, sounds like rod knock to me (but I'm no expert). Could be spun bearing. Didn't sound like lifters or other typical drive train clatter. Didn't go away after running for a bit, so I don't think it's in the top end.

There's also a slap/ticking coming from the front, likely the timing chain is loose and slapping against the cover. That's a known (and somewhat common) failure as the guide is plastic and wears through letting there be slack in the chain.

I suspect that someone has been into the engine before as well, some of the FIPG isn't Toyota colored. They may not have gone very deep into it, impossible to tell.

If I were buying it, I'd find a used 1FZ and toss it in. Offer him $1500, figure $500 for the engine swap (likely less, I've seen more than once where someone can't give a 1FZ away), into it for $2k. Would be a solid wheeler, or might be able to flip it for a grand or so.

I'll try and upload a couple vids I took of the engine.

Wow sounds like crap. But this would be a perfect rig for a Tundra/Sequoia V8 swap if the drive train and body/interior are decent. But that's just me talking like I have $$$ to spend.

Yeah, if you had the money. But that's easily north of $10k if you have someone else doing it.

Maybe someone who is doing a diesel swap has an extra 1FZ laying around.... :hhmm:

The motor went into my first 80 and went bye-bye..

I have some parts.

Do your research on 1FZ parts- A 20 year old motor is an old motor reguardless of miles. My guess is someone leaked all the oil out and starved it- the results can take a while to surface- my old one ran 3 years before it sounded like a diesel.. The piston slap would go away in the beginning.. There was a lot of galling in two cylinders and both had cracked pistons..

From a 92 cruiser I owned for a short time, this is all that's left....
