You got my number. Give me a call if you want help. (And I do have an easy up if you just need some additional protection from the rain. I consider it the clubs, after someone put a knife through it.....)

I'm a poor 62 owner with no shame. Don't throw away anything I might be able to use and then pay you....you know.....when I get the cash! I need something to lift it a couple inches, a power antanea, metal scrap so Gabe can beef up my wimpy front bumper...a diesel engine hooked to an awesome tranny and transfer case...you know, stuff like that you find lying around.:p

And heII I'll hold one corner of that tarp when you need me to, just ask.:grinpimp:

Hey that knife got away from me, if it wasn't for the easy up that caught it i might only have 8 fingers:flipoff2:

My friend is selling her 93 80 with factory lockers. Has about 240K miles I am guessing. I recently did plugs, wires, cap, intake gasket and belts. Still uses a small amount of water. She either wants to sell it outright or is willing to sell the axles to someone that will swap in non-lockers for her so she can still sell a running rig. No prices given by her since she doesn't really know the value of any of it.

Wish I had the funds to do an axel swap.

Locked axles are probably worth between $2k and $3k, at least that seemed to be the going rate for them when I was looking.

Unlocked axles are $300-$500.

So if someone wanted to do an axle swap, I'd say $1500 would be a good price for it for her. $1500 would buy a lot of gas.....

3-5k for a rig with problems around here. There are a couple of 80's on CL in that range with either issues or high miles but they aren't movin' too quick. I doubt they have lockers. If I tried to sell my 80 w/lockers and fresh re-uphulstery I'd look for 5 to 6k with 240k and a recent HG and radiator +.. I might get beat up a bit in these fine times.

That's right along the lines of what I was thinking.

If she wanted to maximize her profit, an axle swap then selling would be the best route (as 99% of buyers don't care if it's got axle lockers or not).

One of my customers is working on a 79 fj40 and needs a new tcase for it. Turns out the drain plug fell out and the guy drove it with no oil so the tcase he has is junk. Anyway, shockingly enough, he had kief noble's phone number on his desk but evidently kief doesn't have one. Anybody else know of one out there?

Soooo, interesting conclusion to this...they bought a used case from spectre offroad for $995 + $100 to ship it!!!! On top of that they were told "it needs gaskets"!!! My jaw hit the floor when they told me!

Yeah I gave her a ballpark of around $4K to expect. But if she can off load the axles for an extra grand still see the 80 for close to $4K then she is ahead of the game. I will pass that info to her and see what she's thinking. She has time as she has the loan already for the new car and isn't trading in the 80.

We all are "immersed" in the cruiser culture but I can remember back when this all started about 20 years ago and the internet was for the Dungeon and Dragon crowd. I remember calling every parts place in town and have learned a lot since.. I have purchased things at SOR that were cheaper than the dealer so you just have to do your research. The LCML and Ih8mud have been an incredible resource..
I bet they could have done better with Mark's offroad, Mudrak or Valley Hybrids..

Not a bad price. If he really wants a quick sale could offer $3k.
