Cleaning synthetic rope / line

How do you clean your synthetic winch line/rope without damage?

Just looking for some ideas.. I looked around in the search function but couldn't find any other threads.

Un spool, swirl it around in a 5 gallon bucket of water. Keep changing the water until it stays clear. Re spool and move on.

Do not use a pressure washer. You can use your garden hose but the bucket method is the least likely to force dirt and grit deeper into the fibers.

X2 on the bucket method. Add a teaspoon of dish soap per gallon to the first bucket to remove all grease residue.

Climbing ropes are also synthetic. A friend built something much like this years ago to ease cleaning. Of course, a climbing rope is often 200, 500, or more feet long so finding a suitable container is more of a problem.

Throw it in the dishwasher when your wife or GF ins't looking. Turn off the dryer feature if you have one to avoid baking your line.

Got it cleaned up. I just inched it throught the garden hose stream. I was able to open up the rope as I fed it through the water. Worked fine.

Opening up the rope fibers is key as you wash your line to get rid of any dirt and debris trapped inside and between the strands.
