my evap did not look quite as bad as post number 6, they gray funk was the same, the leaves collect about where the hole in in post #8

Does not appear that that 94 has the transistor heat sink? so no access?

Edit looking at the pictures of elmariachi's 97, his does not have the access plate either

is that large access only on the LX450? see PScottBx pictures.

I went this whole route about three years ago using DWD2, I think it was. Same sort of procedure, some type of product. Used that about every six or eight montyhs. Smell would come back. Although, not as strong as it originally was.

Funny thing is, it's not that hard to obtain almost direct access to the coil by pulling the blower motor. There are maybe three or four bolts and the electrical connector. You'll find the whole thing described using "search". Anyhow, pull the blower and then spray down the coil directly with whatever you want to use. I think the very last time around I even used some household mold and mildew killer, like Tilex. Let it sit, then rinse.

While you have the blower off, clean it all out with mold and mildew cleaner too, remembering it's an electric motor and we have to be careful with moisture. Maybe follow up with something that smells nice.

A little more effort, but you'll get it cleaner.

Old wet dog smell gone.

You might even find some coil cleaner at Lowes or Home Depot. Don't know that it works as well, but it might be a good option.

DWD2 is what I used. I think Christo recommended it at the time. It works pretty well, but not nearly as well as pulling the blower and being able to spray some cleaner directly into the coil. It's a 5 minute job to pull the blower. I wouldn't spend the money on the DWD2 kit again for the FZJ.

Good stuff. As a former pro, I know that BG has some really great ideas. Their Trans flush system is the best around.
When servicing Hondas, we had a trick for the AC ducts. At every 15,000-miles service, we removed the glove box. We set the system on recirculate with the fan on high. Then spray about half a can of Lysol into the air intake. No matter how old the car, it would always have the new-car smell when the client picked it up! Lysol kills all mildew and dust in the ductwork. It spreads thru the car, and freshens everything. We never told clients about this. We just did it! Why do they love us?

finally found frigi-clean at Buy Frigi-Clean® and Frigi-Fresh® | BG Frigi-Clean® and Frigi-Fresh® AC products | Frigi-Clean® and Frigi-Fresh® . it seems to be the only online place you can get it. Dealership would not sell it to me...they wanted to charge me for the cleaner and service. Whatever...

Have you ordered from them?

Sorry for the question, but your first post and the website is very plain jane - only product sold, so perhaps someone's garage business (nothing wrong with that).

Where is the air intake on the 80? Have you tried the same trick on one?

yes...received it. It came from Lake Forest, CA or Irvine CA I don't remember.

LOL! Wish I knew where - I'd have saved $6.95 in shipping!!! That's right at home for me! Sheez!

Received my shipment yesterday. Add to the to do list along with breather extensions this coming weekend! Came from Lake Forest - 10 miles from home!

BG Products/Frigi-Clean and Frigi-Fresh

Gotta chime in here. As the BG Distributor here in East Texas, I am ecstatic to see BG recognized here on Mud. I've been selling BG for many years and bought the East Texas Distributor a few years ago. I FIRMLY believe that we have the industry leading chemicals and lubricants in the automotive industry.

As much as I would love to sell Frigi-Clean and Frigi-Fresh to everyone here, it would violate my Distributor Agreement to sell it anywhere outside of East Texas.
We do have a website; BGFINDASHOP.com that should point you to shops in your area that sell our products. Please note however that all of our products are developed for the professional repair shop/dealership. We do this for several reasons. Our products are not meant to be compared to the typical parts store brand products, in quality nor price. Most of our services require the use of specailty equipment. (Frigi-Clean and Frigi-Fresh being an exception.)

If you can't find a shop in your area thru the above website that will sell it to you without charging you for the labor to perform the service, let me know, and I'll try to get a hold of the BG Distributor in your area. If you are in East Texas, please contact me directly; Rich Jacobs 903-590-0316.

Thanks for the kind words on BG.

Got this done and I've got to say I'm very happy with the results. The 'Anza Borrego' dust smell I've had in the truck from the A/C since '06 is gone. The Fridi-Fresh smelled a little in the beginning, but that's disapated nicely. I did not use the whole can of that.

Water that came out the drain was filthy! Having inspected Jim's truck before he bought it, I know the cigarette smell he mentioned when he started this thread. The local distributor posted above was very quick with delivery.

Found the BG FrigiClean at my local NAPA store, don't know if they all carry it.

Canadian NAPA store or US store??

I looked for Fridgi-Clean locally but their reps don't retail the products, just do service with their products. Do you have a source where it can be purchased?

Thanks in advance.
