I’m gonna order some lithium grease so that I can do this. My reverse lights work but I get the intermittent start I have replaced the starter, The wires that go to the starter, all of my grounds and fusible link. This is the only other thing I can think of that might be causing my issue.

Thanks for the thread resurrection! wonder if the OP is still around to describe the "slipping in reveres", was this like a grind when going from drive to reverse?
 
Bumping this thread as I am having similar issues. Intermittent starting issues (no crank with charged battery), hard shifting into reverse, R and D dash lights go on and off if I jiggle the shifter, reverse lights also work intermittently with jiggling of shifter. I’m assuming since the connection can be re-established by moving the shifter it’s more likely the contact points in the NSS versus corrosion at the connector that are causing the problem.
 
My 94 is shifting and starting fine, but my N light on the combination meter fails to light 90% of the time, occasionally coming on. All bulbs are new, and all other PRND2L indicators work normally.

Unless I'm missing something the EWD doesn't have a lot of info, but I suspect it's either the C13 or B1 connectors, image below. I'm guessing it's not a problem with the A/T indicator switch at the top right of the image, because the transmission is indeed shifting into neutral and I have no issues starting. It seems B1-1 must be going to +12 or I wouldn't shift to neutral.

I'm also pretty sure this is distinct and different from the park/neutral switch, which I believe directly reads the actual transmission mode, not the shift lever position.

Has anyone else serviced this AT/Indicator switch, top right of first diagram, or even know where exactly it is? I can't find a diagram that makes it clear, but included the closest below. I want to check the signal path to get this figured out.

This thread really helped me out. I had no reverse lights, no PRNDL2 lights on my dash, and shifting into reverse from any gear was rough. No issues with starting the truck. Pulled off my park/neutral safety switch (which was a pain), and some of the prongs at the end of the harness were very corroded. One prong actually snapped off completely. Replaced with a new part and all symptoms resolved.

The hard part of this job is getting to the electrical connections which are routed up over the transmission and through the firewall. I had to do all the work from under the vehicle as my truck is a LHD and there's too much in the way from above. Probably a lot easier if you had a real lift. The OEM NSS part was about $180 shipped.
