I was perusing Racer65's Land Cruiser porn website www.Cityracerllc.com and came across these replacement struts he was offering for the rear hatch. I hadn't seen them before, on MUD, and not sure he's done much promotion on this item. LINKYPOO
But for anyone who has taken a couple of blows to 'ol chrome dome because of 'I-think-that'll-hold' early hatch stays, this is a must have item. I know there are write-ups for sticking a gas strut into the existing stock things, but I would never get around to it. Much easier to just get that yearly thunk on the head. Kinda like paying taxes.
Super easy install. Prolly 20 mins. Work great. They're labeled for "L" and "R" sides. Fit perfectly. Push the hatch all the way up. Yea! No more people at work asking why I have a band-Aid on my head!
Thanks Roger for another great product!
(Just don't be a dope like me an take an hour to realize you may have to rotate the shaft of the gas strut to get the brackets to line up - if they're 180* reversed. )
(And all that crap in the back of the truck is addt'l projects)
