Anybody who has been to John's shop probably already knows how awesome his metal chop saw is. I have only seen and used it once and I know it's value. If you don't know about it, Google it or ask around to anyone who's used one and you'll understand it's worth very quick I bet. I've been thinking of trying to get one and I'm sure there are plenty of others who want and/or need a good chop saw. I talked to John to see about getting a break from his dealer if multiple units were purchased. The dealer said if a minimum of 6 were purchased, he could work a deal of some kind; I do not know how much of a deal, but I'd bet it will directly depend on how many total units he ends up selling. The saw is an EVO380 Raptor by Evolution Power Tools; it is not a cheap saw, both literally and figuratively. Retail is around $400 - hence the group buy attempt. Please post up if you're interested or have any questions. I'm in no major rush, especially with the holidays quickly approaching, so I'm putting this out now with the thought of purchasing maybe in late January. That gives two months to put together a list of buyers. I'm going to link this to a few other clubs' that I know people in to extend the offer and expand the chances.

P.S.- If you vote yes, please post as such so someone can contact you if the buy happens.

I bought my neighbors craftsman miter saw for $20 and put a $10 blade on it and it is great!
I probably should get a variable speed controller at HF to keep the heat down but for my limited use it's fine.
That saw looks nice, but $400 is spendy
:meh:

Like steve said if you ever used one you would say money well spent. fiber blades wobble as they cut so you do not get a strait cut. I would be in for a group buy.

A buddy here in Memphis told me these saws are currently on sale at Lowe's for $375. Don't think I'll be able to pick one up while they're on sale; maybe I can do a layaway or something. This looks to be as good a deal as we might've gotten on the group buy.

Shop Evolution 14" 15-Amp Metal Cutting Chop Saw at Lowes.com

10" Multipurpose Double Bevel Sliding Miter Saw, Cuts Steel Aluminum & Wood, Professional Miter Saw, evolutionrage.com

After going to Lowes to see if the stores stocked them, I ran across the one linked to above. I'm pretty sure I've changed my mind at this point and will go with this one instead.

For the same or less money you lose only the 14" blade and drop to a 10". But you gain the ability to cut compound angles, a laser guide, side supports for long materials, and slide arm movements for wider materials. Seems like a no brainer to me unless you need to cut tubing over 5" diameter.
