I know you vehemently stated "no" to a trailer Keith but have you ever seen Kurt William's aka Cruiseroutfitter sweet 40 and 40 bucket trailer? That would be a nice option to have for excursions like DV, Nevada, Utah, etc.

And IMHO its one of the slickest looking LC and trailer combos I've seen. And its incredibly capable if called upon...

Just in case you're curious:

:D

Don't get me wrong... I do see the merit in a trailer, especially for "expedition" type runs...
Base camp would be ideal.
Realistically though, Julez can't get the time off a LOT of the time, which leaves just me and the pooch runnin where I can pull the seat and have him sit up front w/ me and the rest of the gear as usual.

Like the links too!!!
I like the different set ups that he showed besides his own!!

Lol that was easy..

FAWK!!!!!
brake lights are out?!?!?!
Been dd'ing the rig and I've been thinking everything is good, and someone stops and tells me I have no brake lights!!!!
Running lights are working, turn sig are working... NO BRAKE LIGHTS???

Switch???
It's. New switch from napa. I got one from SOR as well as a spare, but why would the switch go out like that??

Jump the switch and see if they work ... Then follow the voltage back connection to connection and see were it stops

I'm gonna check the fuse FIRST!!!
there's NOTHING that's easy abou getting to that brake switch. We grounded everything together off one bolt, and I'm wondring if that isn't a problem of a couple of the electrical gremlins I have cropping up intermittently.
I did put the "smart fuses" in... However, I've had one blow before and NOT indicate as it should.
Switch is new, wiring is new and it worked....
Gotta be something simple. The FIX however...

I figured you did that already

Crap, I feel bad your having so many problems with the electrical. :o

If you haven't figured it out by Friday afternoon I'll look at it when we run the new ham antenna cable.

No worries!!!
Not your fault. Just gotta chase it down is all. There are far worse things that could be happening, that's for sure!!!
I think that ign./ brake, ECU issue could ALL be related to the way we grounded all of em together!?
I still have those free wires that I could isolate that ECU power. I just have to take that fuse block down and see what goes to what again.

You think it could be all those grounds bunched together wreaking havoc???

Naw... I was just pulling into my parking space at work and the dude that was driving in back of me told me the lights were out. I didn't have time to investigate it.
Hope that's all it is!!

Generally a central ground is a good thing.

The ECU issues is weird and could be tied to the brake light issue, I think there is something cross wired in there.

I guess given the number of connections we made there really aren't that many problems, I'm just as fussy about this stuff as you are about welding.

Rusty...
It's this plug connector or something in the wiring in it!!!
Remember this one??? We had a BITCH of a time getting this plugged in.

I d/c'd it and re plugged it and the LED light switched on and the brakes worked!!!

It's a weird deal!!!

Don't quite know how that has ANY BEARING on the CEL?!?!

I'm not sure at this point. I need to look at my notes from when we but it together and do some continuity checks. We'll figure it tomorrow and have you on the trail Saturday.

Just to update the last issue w/ the brake lights... Somehow, we mis wired the plug for the brake switch.
There was a weird phenomenon taking place!!
When I would hit the brake pedal (and the switch was operating), the CEL light would come on and the fuel pump would activate. If I were to shut the rig OFF while holding in the brake pedal, the rig would continue to run.
We had 2 wires That neither of us knew WHY they were there or why we put em there, but we pulled em and everything seems to be in good order now....

Hitting the trails again today!!! :)

I LOVE WHEELING!!!!
it's so GREAT to be back on the trails again!!
Rig just does SO AMAZING!!!
No comparison between the 62 and the 40. The 40 is just so much easier to wheel.

Easy takes the fun out of it!

Not totally true.
It's a TON more fun in this rig, cuz it's vastly more capable, lighter and nimble.
Just a lot less work!!

Theres nothing Easy about wheeling when you have your Pup sitting in the front seat :steer:
