I don't have the skills to convert the 60 axles - id love to get some 62 axles, rebuild, lock and replace my current.

Wheels look real nice!

i'm tired of doing all the "under carriage" work so sent chef under to fix the slave cylinder we just blew up. he's getting there but a tommy boy quote comes to mind cause he just don't fit..

60 and 62 axles are the same other than 62 are canted a bit up and gussetted.. we'll make you a deal if you want.. THE front axle is different and 60's have 3.73 gears instead of 4.11 both are fine spine etc.

wheels and tires are for sale.. set of 5.. great shape $500 obo and we'll wheel and deal cause least amount of time they spend here the less i need to think about cutting my 45 tub to fit em.

closeup on the tires. just for info make us an offer. we need beer $ badly we're running out ..

1) Thanks to Sage for finding the donor truck!
2) thanks to Erik for brokering the deal, use of his air conditioned shop, and allllllll his help. It was a lot. It's been quite a while since I've done any serious wrenching, and my memory and stamina aren't what they used to be when we were building a new incarnation of a trail trucks together every 6 months or so;)
3) big thanks to Rob for showing up and saving me hood release cable faux pax: Erik and I were both pistol whipped and dehydrated little beatches by then, and it would taken us weeks. Rob poked his fingers under the hood, made a tool and had it open in about 90 seconds. He's the man you want to break into your car; fer-real. He also tacked the exhaust up and welded it together in about 15 minutes.
4) thanks to Erik's Jenn for food and hospitality; nice!
5) thanks to Chris, Erik's neighbor, for hualing off the carcass. I had a lot of good years and good miles with that rig; it was sad to see her go....but, after ripping the axles out in 106 degree heat, I was also glad to see her go...

Annie and I made it home with no drama, though it was freakin' hot. Man, I wish this heat wave would break already!

i'm whooped.. Sore.. tired.. etc.. but it's done.
was fun watching cat and dog interactions.

Sounds like an awesome weekend of wrenching. Congrats and thanks for sharing

carcas was gone by the time i left for work monday afternoon.. poof.. less than 24 hours in the neighborhood and it was Gone..

Yesterday I replaced the muffler and tailpipe, fixed the horn, and fiexed the frozen emergency brake pivots. Today I'll bleed the brakes.

I think she's ready for inspection.

Last but not least will be to sand, rust-mort, prime and paint the couple of spots that need it.
