Charcoal Canister Needed - Which aftermarket one?

The routing is as in the picture above: One marked tank to tank hard line, other one to purge line. If you don't have the diagram, the hard line that goes to the tank is obviously the tank line.

How are people attaching / mounting these canisters? I looked at mine yesterday and the bracketry doesnt look like it will clamp a generic one. Are people fabbing brackets? Hose clamps? Zip ties?

I too need to figure out something on my engine swap related to this and the tank vent tube. OME 60 stuff left a long time ago when I did the engine swap and I did not think to save those parts. Guess I'll have to come up with some hybrid setp...potentially a combination of GM and likely the aftermarket cannister noted.

Anyone can fab and create brackets etc. I was hoping there was a magic charcoal canister that 'just fit'....

So the VC120 does not seem to be available anywhere-I run 1 in my 80 and it did solve all the pressure issues in the fuel tank. But thanks to @Spike Strip and his list of part numbers, I ordered another AIRTEX 4B1004 from Northern Auto Parts. I don't know if I'll get it but the order went through and I didn't get a message they didn't have it.

So if you need one, you could try it. I remember when I got it for my 80 it was $30 or so, the price has doubled, unfortunately.

Drew,
Curious on fitment. I have no problem welding and fabbing if needed. Curious if fit or bolt in is better with certain models. The 62 bracketry doesn't look like it will take aftermarket ones without some minor fabbing.

The VC120 and various iterations are all slightly smaller (diameter) than the OE unit. I just cut up an old radiator hose and wrapped it around the canister to then snug it up in the existing bracket.

Not sure about the 62 bracket, though.

There are some Toyota (Denso) units available that will fit, but they're all well over $200 ... Which (to me anyway) is just too high for a can full of charcoal.

Thanks Spikestrip. That's what I wanted to know.

Spikestrip,
I'm not seeing anyone sell the VC120. The only one I have found has been on ebay so far. Description said it was plastic. I assume no durability issues with a plastic charcoal canister?

Swap is easy, on the 60s anyway -- don't know the 62 setup, if different. There's a pic somewhere of a clean tube routing, as it will be a little different from stock. I saved it but can't find at the moment. Will post when (if) I do.

I’m armed with a new aftermarket GM canister. Would like to replace to the soft fuel hose. What size fits best if I run to NAPA and would any plastic 3-way connected suffice for the purge line? Thanks

The AC Delco is wider so I needed to expand the band clamp and add a longer bolt. I also used longer mounting bolts with spacers to move it away from the fender.

CA 62 so the hoses are different.

Yes this is what I had to do with mine as well, Longer bolts with spacers. I searched and searched for a canister that was slightly smaller diameter but to no avail. Ended up going with
Standard Motor Products CP1020 Vapor Canister
