:princess: is on board for this one :bounce: We started planning last night.

Dan; I got the cheap tent we bought last year out and set it up last night in the back yard. It should be okay as long as there isn't any high wind. Are you still planning on bringing your trailer?

Time: 8:00am with a leave time, no later than 8:30am.

See you guys there.

Since we won't have SW, will we be using CB or FSR? I've had good luck with hand held FSR units on this type of trip and have spare sets. Or I have a mag mount CB antenna and I can jury rig a CB into the 100 fairly easiely.

Or we could just use headlight flashes like Fred Flintstone and I did.

NBD I just need to know.

If it's all the same to everyone I would prefer CB...then no batteries to maintain. But if it's FRS just let me know...

Can't wait to get to HAM stage!

Looks like I will be somewhere between Pioche and Ely on Monday (the 30th). Keep me posted on your plans, maybe we can grab a beer

I got my CB all mounted up and wired, so I would prefer to go that route also.

I'll Kludge a CB into the 100 this weekend.

I'm sure you can figure something out. A little Velcro, some wire, add a little duct tape and there you go...CB mount.:hillbilly:

Jack: Are you planning to cook/eat in camp each night and morning? And lunches on the trail? Just trying to determine how many groceries to bring.

That is the plan. So yeah we will bringing a ton of food. We generally don't do too many big breakfasts, more like instant oatmeal, breakfast burritos and other simple breakfasts. Simple to make, simple to cleanup. Lunch is usually sandwiches and other things that are quick to cook on the BBQ. For dinners, we like to pre-make a lot of our stuff, so all we have to do is heat it up or things we can cook on the BBQ. Again, simple to make, simple to clean. Since water is usually the limiting factor, we try not to use too much. Not saying we won't be bringing a ton of water also, we always come home with plenty of water, it's just better safe than sorry.

See you tomorrow.

We picked up a laptop PC this weekend and I think I have it talking to my GPS. At any rate I have loaded my topo maps onto it so I can find the exact coordinates for any feature that shows up on the map. I hope we will have a 12V adaptor before the trip, or at least an inverter.

Keith came over and helped me check out my CB/Antenna combo so I think from the gadget point of view we are golden.

I just wanted to wish you all a good trip...It sounds like its gonna be a BLAST!
Ive been scramb'lin to get all my ducks in a row for the DV trip...
I also pulled the tent and aired it out, went and picked up some last minute tools and such from Harbor Freight, did the service stuff to the rig and went through and re torqued all the bolts and such...
I hope the work I did on the rig holds together well! The wash board down there will be a good test of quality for sure!

Be safe, have fun and dont eat the yellow snow!:D

Post pics on return!

Good luck and have fun on your trip. Take plenty of pictures, we are planning on it.

We did some test fitting of the gear today. It's amazing how much room all of the crap can take up.

Getting real excited.
