Finally got mine in this weekend! Removing the console was a little more time consuming than I initially thought it would be. Seems to always be the case. I don't have full proof measure, but based on my tape, I have just under 2.5" more depth that it could go. There is a little play in all directions when the piece is clipped in. I have not noticed it rattling while driving. Mine doesn't snap in tight with the tabs, but it does not seem like I can remove it without pushing in the tabs. All in all, I am very pleased to have the extra storage space! Also, the under side of my console is much dirtier than some of y'all's.

@BenCC forget the CD changer insert…although I am going to jump all over this when you are done protyping. How about a complete redo of the whole inside Of the center console to update it and make it more useful?
Also, I can totally see a need for “pez dispenser” specific inserts in the future! Say for like a G48 and a refill for said pez dispenser. You could almost do this like those kydex holsters!
Other than that, you sir are the hero this community has needed when it comes to bringing those “man I wish there was a (insert thing here) that can do (insert function here).

Thanks. I will do the insert first. Then I will see other options.

Just asking for opinions. Do you think the pocket needs to be deeper? For now, I think the depth of the prototype is decent for storage. The drawback of it being deeper is (1) the bottom might get heated up from the transmission, (2) hands cannot easily reach the bottom of the pocket

Hmm.... Does it need to be deeper, I'd say no. Unless you need it deeper to keep a pistol. I have a couple of 6"x9" Magpul Daka pouches in my center console and I was hoping one could stand up long ways in the pocket. I don't think there is enough depth for that even if you made the pocket deeper anyways. The ability to remove the pocket though seems to negate the depth issue in my opinion. You can always pull it out and dump whatever is in it out. I don't have a laser thermometer to test the temp after a long drive, might be able to borrow one to check it, but does the actual center console get hot after long drives from the transmission? I guess I've never noticed. Thanks for letting me test it out!

Don’t have to measure the temp precisely. Just touch and feel. Thanks.

Instead of making the whole pocket deeper how about a selection of bottom plates of a standard depth but with pez "barrel recesses" of different depths to match the buyers requirements?

My comments are very similar to the other testers. Slight play (looks like the next model already addresses), but there wasn’t any more play than the coin holder. Stoked for the extra functionality. Would be open to a vertical pen/flashlight holder on one end if BenCC was open to it. I’m always digging around for both. Would be nice to have them stood up vertically.

Sat in traffic for about 45 mins today. Felt the pocket bottom before the drive and after. Felt about the same. Maybe a tiny bit warmer, but it might have been in my head. It’s already mid-90s in Texas, so it was going to be warm before I even started the drive.

List the major dimensions of your pen and flashlight (dia. and length).

Fenix UC40 UE: 5-13/16'' x 1-1/8'' (147.64mm x 28.56mm)
Pilot G2: 5-5/8'' x 19/32'' (142.88mm x 15.08mm)

Some thoughts on this but feel free to ignore. Some vertical slots where one could slide in a divider at different intervals could be nice. I'm realizing I have a number of things that could be vertically stored. knife, tire pressure gauge, pen, pencil, sharpie, flashlight x 2. I had one of those systems with a bunch of slotted dividers in my cavernous Tundra console, used every one of them. I've been meaning to try making something to accomplish that in the bottom of the 100 console (larger side under coin holder) as well but haven't gotten around to it.

I like that idea for sure, things are always changing it would be nice to have some kind of slotted setup happening in there. Maybe a little trap door at the bottom to keep stuff from falling way down... oh and somewhere to store my doobies is a must.

fixed the weak snap-fit

Can it be made...just like that? I'm using that space for the body of a ham radio (and yeah, it's just sort of floating around in there now 🙄). Having something with the sides there means I could mount it and stop wear on my cabling.

will have V1 which is just a box and V2 V3 for different needs

Do you a pic of the system in Tundra?

One possible solution
