CBI Ditch Lights / A pillar light Bracket Installed

I started to install the mounts but couldn't get them to fit. It wasn't a cowl issue though. The mount isn't clearing the hood. I'm not 100% sure they sent me the correct mounts. I'm working with them to figure out what the issue is.

With that said, it does clearly state on their website, "This bracket does require some trimming of the cowl for proper fitment.".

Stay tuned...

Well, looks like SDHQ needs to update their website. I sent them some pictures of the problem I was having installing the mounts. They've now come back and said the mounts only fit 2016 and newer and they were going to update their website accordingly.

Looks like I'll be going with the CBI mounts.

That’s unfortunate, they will work for my ‘18. I assume they are taking care of you?

They should. They said they work on 2016+.

They are giving me a full refund.

Just wired them this morning. They did take A LOT of trimming. Part of it might have been not doing what I was doing but definitely needs some...

@AZCRSR when you have a chance can you take a side shot on the right (passenger). I want to see if they'll clear my snorkel. TIA.

Here are some pics of the trimming. I probably need some more practice with my Dremel.

Not too sure about the LC200 version, but I had the SDHQ's on the 2017 4Runner I just sold, and they were well made and cleared all plastic with no issues (without heating and molding out of the way). Thinking about them on my new Cruiser, but not sure I need any more light (planning 2 LP9's and a rack mounted light bar).

I just installed SDHQ bracket on my LC200 2019. It is not even rubbing it is pushing against the plastic really hard. I trimmed it until I saw the whole (in the picture). It is still pushing hard which cause the hood alignment when in closed position. After contacting SDHQ, they suggested the following.
" We do not have an exact measurement. Another route to get the fitment you can use a heat gun and press the plastic down to mold it. Ideal fitment is when the hood shuts without lifting the rear of the hood so that it just rests on the cowl. " Not sure they ever done actual fitment or installation.
I am not sure if I want to damage the plastic more. Because it fills like I really need to remove 1/4" more of plastic.

What's removing a little more? It's only plastic. ;)

I was just afraid that there is some metal parts under that plastic not suppose to be exposed to water. Whole plastic is channeling water pretty good to the drain holes. I usually don't afraid removing some non-functional peaces. But that looks like have some purpose. My be pushing this plastic with the heat gun could be a better option. But heat gun could melt it too. The plastic itself is pretty hard.

Not that I can see but maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in? I only see one piece of metal on the driver side but it's a pretty stout body piece so I don't see an issue. Nothing under the passenger side.

There is also a secondary drain on both sides under the hood. It looks like all of the drains channel the water through the same area and away from the engine bay.

What is it about the bracket design that requires the cutting? Can the bracket be rebent?

I couldn't see a way to bend the CBI version by hand or any tools I had. Maybe if I had took it metal fabricator.

That said, the SDHQ one's are definitely more beefy than the CBI one's.

Does someone have a picture of just the brackets or can you confirm these are the same ones you got for fitment up to a 2015?
