Don't and get a amateur/ham radio instead? ;)

I installed a Cobra 75WXST. The little box is mounted under the glove compartment (wired into a splitter for AM/FM/CB) and the mic is mounted on the dash with a magnet. I've since rerouted the mic cable to go into the dash between the cig lighter and outlet:

They both have their uses.

Definitely. I'm willing to give up the CB for truck to truck communications for "ham". I just use a cheap baofeng and magmount right now, already been through several CBs on trucks. Will eventually get a nice ham radio and antenna setup and keep a handheld CB in truck for short range if needed

Sounds about right. The CB is useful for me on most rail rides because everyone in my convoy uses CB. The ham is for emergencies. If I rode with more people that used ham, I'd make it my primary.
