Went out to Carizzo Plain this last weekend for the upland opener. Took our new puppy with me and had a great time. Pup got to run around like a maniac and chase butterflies, ants, tarantulas, birds, rabbits....pretty much anything alive and moving. It was hotter than usual but we managed ok with a few quail and a rabbit. Cooking up the rabbit tonight. My fiance has had it before, but this will be my first time.

Without further adieu, pics ;)

That is awesome! Are you a hunter? I need to get back into it. I used to go a lot prior to the military. Any good dove hunting? I also have my new puppy that I need to get out there and do some field work.

Awesome, I had a German Short Hair growing up in MT that I hunted Pheasant with. Great dogs and yes they will chase stuff all day long and into the night.

Thanks guys, she is a great little dog. Cant wait for her to get a bit older so we can really start training. Trying hard not to push her and let her be a pup. So far she's done great with intro to the gun (22lr & blanks) and shown great bird drive, so its just a matter of time for her nose to "turn on". She's mostly sight pointing right now.

She's actually a cousin of gsp, she's a french pointer. Same dog, little smaller, little less likely to run off over the horizon ;) My first bird dog, so I'm learning the ropes here and trying not to mess her up with my mistakes. In reality though, she's going to be a couch pointer, except for maybe 30 days out of the year :)

giulitto, there are dove up there. I've taken a few dove, but they're just targets of opportunity, I've never set up for them. I usually go for quail. May spend some time looking for some chukar this year too. Had the quail with this recipe this weekend, pretty darn tasty, though one was shot up good.

By the way, I saw your pics, cute pup! I finally broke down after a month of her crying in her kennel at night, I let her sleep in bed now too. Life will never be the same again ;) haha

Looks like you had a good time. Im jealous.

We were going to hunt that area for qual last weekend but I had to work last saturday.
