Actually, the main jet port is spraying fuel…possibly not enough so I am going to peek inside anyway. I will try your wire technique and re-install but some of the stories i have read about the assembly of this carb almost wants me to pull it apart and inspect the parts and pieces. I am going to cut that excess shaft off.
When you give the carb throttle two things happen. The accelerator pump pumps a squirt of liquid gas into the carb. The increased suction from the engine also pulls a fuel mist/spray from the main jet. Are you sure you are getting both? If all you are getting is fuel from the accelerator pump, then the main jet is likely clogged.
