Does anyone have a picture or know how the air filter housing is connected to a 1985 FJ60 carburetor?

If you have the original parts, air cleaner housing & carburetor, it's super obvious. Like moron obvious. If the cruiser has a non original carb or air cleaner then anything is up for grabs.

It appears to be a Weber carburetor, and the air filter housing doesn't line up with it. Previous owner had it taped to seal it, but wasn't sure if the originals had some sort of boot or something to seal it.

Not gonna work properly with that carb. Others with a Weber can better inform you, but I think the weber's take something like this.

(Although you'd be better off finding a stock Aisan carb and having it rebuilt if you want to use the stock air cleaner).

It looks like there is a top that allows for the use of stock air cleaner with a weber, but it's different than what you have

Thanks for sharing. This is the top they have on it, but for some reason it doesn't align. Not sure if they didn't install it correctly or just have it aligned incorrectly. Will take some work to get it aligned.

You need that cross-section in the Air Horn for the threaded rod that fits thru the stock air cleaner, to hold it down. If you try to booty fab something you're most likely going to allow unfiltered air.

Might be worth your while to do it right and since you've got the original 2F

You should probably go back to the factory carb.

^^
This would be the best way to go if all the OE linkage is there. Stock carb is superior to the weber, IMHO. Also, if you can run without smog equipment, you can buy a brand spanky new Japanese clone of the non-USA FJ60 carb (when they're back in stock, as they sell fast).

hey @bamjam14 , matt here ,

Let me start off by saying : WELCOME TO MUD ! :)

now , to the matter at hand .

The PO that installed the Webber on your Truck was either Given Bad Advise or did not Seek any out to begin with ?

We will never know

I Have NEVER seen a Webber Conversion That simply Worked right and Correctly as they Claimed it was designed to do

and your experiencing one of those Moments right Now

If you proceed and try to Force-Modify the OEM air cleaner on the Webber , your gonna have to make irreversible

Modifications in some way shape or form

This should be considered unacceptable and the Correction-Choice should be made to Remove ALL traces of the

Webber , and then Install Correctly , using All or as many OEM TOYOTA Parts as possible to make that happen .

using a FSM ( Field Service Manual ) to Aid this process along .

Here is a Link to the 21100-61012 , its a NEW Factory TOYOTA 2F AISIAN Carburetor

As @Racer65 say's in his Listing " Here's The Real Thing "

Good Luck ......:)

The city racer carb specifies not to use alcohol-free gas, to use 10% alcohol (standard gas) instead.

Why is this? I'd think any new quality seals would be agnostic.

Thanks,,

Eric-

Often curious about this too but I have a CR carb on my 40 and I've run some non-e in it and I am still here to tell the tale.

I run mine enough that I am not concerned about it varnishing and in the rare instance it sits I add some SeaFoam or Sta-Bil.
If I were running it at extreme altitude I would absolutely put corn free in it.

also, it is a great carb FWIW...

I have the Fuji carb on my truck, I called city racer about the ethanol gas. Thy told me that ethanol free may not float the float properly. I only run ethanol free and have for years, the Fuji is more than a year old and no issues that I know of. My truck is my daily driver

Ah yes, this. I was advised by @mattressking to swap out the float for an OE one. Forgot this was probably the reason. I believe the Fuji ones may saturate.

Thanks y'all, I'd never have guessed float buoyancy, but it makes perfect sense!
