EPA of 13-17 is better than the current 100 and 80.

New EPA ratings
80 = 12-14
100 = 12-15

Thus 13-17 is an improvement over the older models. Not bad for a larger and much more powerful vehicle.

Besides if you are worried about fuel, you should be driving a small car every day and only use such a large vehicle when you really need it.

Yes you are right I should buy a car and insure that car because I'm worried about a $70,000 4wd's mpg.

Gonna get a bike too, buy it and insure it!

Gonna get a smaller house to live in whyle I'm not living in my big house!!...............and insure it.....

 you call that an improvement!!

ok, Everyone would agree that having better gas mileage is a goal. a neccesary one at that.
New EPA Guidelines are drmatically affecting how we percieved the value of previous vehicles MPG rating systems. good for us we have better knowledge now.

as far as comments on who can afford what? who cares?
I have met more millionaires in my life who drive 20 year old beaters, than Percetable less affluent individuals who have to state thier status, becuase it is not apparent from their actions, words, posessions and behaviors.
I used to want people to think I was...
Now I want to think of myself as someone I'd respect, and not being a jackass, focusing on being a Gentleman is a full time job for me.

I love this forum, and all the things that come with it, but certain comments, need to be deleted, as they do nothing but incite others.

What else is this forum for  are they even out yet?

Well you already have a large number of vehicles, why not actually add a fuel efficient one :flipoff2:

And yes it is an improvement over previous models, I didn't say big improvement :D

I oh so humbly agree with you however "grandfather clause" applies here, my 80's tech stone age DEAD RELIABLE, should not be liable for this, two different ball games.

BTW, 20mpg avg, with my foot in it, Mario Andretti, put your foot in that POS 8-9!

BTW traditional "LandCruiser" build is NO LONGER!!! HAS BEEN AMERICANISED!! How many countries will get this exact model?

FJC is NA ONLY!!!!

LOL!!! That "POS" as you say will porbably idle faster than your truck with your foot in it ;p SO take performance and gas mileage in account.

I believe Toyota might be selling the FJC in other parts of the world soon, given it's success in NA.

Cool it tntoyota. I don't see wtf your crying about. If you don't like having a faster truck, then I suggest weighing it down with a few thousand lbs of bricks. Jeez.

FYI FJC is part of the 120 family. The 120 series is the Prado thats been pushed around where the 100, 105, 80, 70s, 60s, 50-40 series have been pushed. All of these series of Toyotas have proved them selves very well. They've tackled punishing terrain for continuous amounts of time proving their reliable over and over. I sure as hell know that when it comes to 4x4s, Toyota knows how to make one. And this new LandCruiser/LX series wont show no disappointment out in the rough stuff and it'll prove itself just like the previously bashed 100 series that still till this day impressed everyone I know that thought a LandCruiser couldn't climb "up dat."

And FYI, all the gas powered LandCruisers haven't been known for their gas mileage so I don't see why your pushin it in peoples faces. Get over it, your driving a FJ80. Them things are not only slow, there friggin gas HOGS! A 62 series with the same motor and automatic will outrun a 80 series and even a middle eastern carbuerated FJ62 5spd will dust the FJ80. You don't see me bashing them. Why? Because I friggin love them along with the rest of the other series. And the only reason why I always love and loved the LandCruiser is because it lives up to its name, and it does it with fashion.

Dang! You are so right the gas motor has been around for a hundred years now, and with it's smart cam, intake technology, better exhaust and 4 operating computers. Why concentrate on better fuel economy? Its far to important to use this technology to create a Frankenstein motor because Toyota is scared people wont buy 2nd place.

They use the tech to build it bigger, better, faster, more.

I compare dinosaur motors to the newest too, (conspiracy) they've know this the whole time!!

Thats what it's all about baby!! I need some attention as my right hand is tired from all the sock action.

Besides I guess gas mileage as my odo doesn't work anymore and my math skills suck.

Dude, this is not chat. :flipoff2:

You make fun of the FJC, but it has outsold the 100/80/60/40, etc in its first year. It probably has sold more in 18 months than the other models has sold throughout their model lifecycle. Last I checked that means success. It's capable rig that is priced right.

Oh and which one of your trucks give you 20MPG with your foot in it?

And I will continue to make fun of a rebodied 4runner! :flipoff2:

And the people that b;tch because of whatever and are NOT smart enough to know the runner is FARRRR more practical!

So that would leave what reason to buy it???????????????

L:eek::eek:K's, american buyer's: "if it looks like a bad az 4wd it must be!"

Oh, and my 91 god rest its soul :crybaby: got 19.7??? NEVER in my 3,4 or 5 years driving 150mi a day did I not do 90mph in it!!! 100hp vs wind = sucks!!

This is where you show your an idiot. A 4runner is very respectable, but the FJC is not a rebodied 4Runner. It's more like a rebodied LandCruiser Prado 2 door with a slightly differently tuned suspension. The 4Runner 4th gen extra bulk makes it alil tricky to go where the smaller FJC can go, but both are very respectable 4x4s that will do whats advertised and continue to impress.

Then again, lets say its a rebodied 4Runner for example. Hey, its ~10gs cheaper than a 4Runner, both base models, and I don't have to worry about getting my carpets dirty. PLUS it comes with a 6spd M/T!! I dunno about you, but the FJC to a new 4x4 buyer is gonna look very affordable.

On a side note, the 4Runners seating position is sportier, with the seat closer the the floor and lower hangine roof. The FJC has a taller roof, a higher, more landcruiser like seating position.

Not knocking the FJC here, but you do realize there were over 1,000,000 4x series sold? FJC hasn't sold anywhere near those numbers yet ...

Tucker

I should have been more specific. I was refering to US sales.

An interesting figure is that WW all Cruiser model sales for 2006 were 270k. In 2006 when the FJC was introduced and limited numbers available, and not even a full year of sales, they sold 56k in the US (not sure if they included Canada in this figure). I need to look up to 2007 figures and recent US sales as well.

But I think the point I'm making is that it is a huge commercial success and likely to be sold in other countries as well.

Sales numbers are meaningless in establishing vehicle quality.

No offense to the FJC, but it's a low-cost POC wheeler/SUV. So is an XTerra and an H3. Of course they outsell a $60K + Land Cruiser. They should and big time.
And comparing to FJ40 sales.....come on.....they were cheap back then and were sold for years.

:confused:Cheap. No look at the inflation sence then.
