Don't see this mentioned anywhere, but I would love to have seen the FJ produced in four door body style as well. Anyone else agree?

Actually, I think it would be selling better than it is now if it was ONLY offered in a four door. Americans like their trucks and SUVs with four doors. Witness the profusion of crew-cab pickups and the abandonment on the 2 door SUV by virtually every manufacturer.

I also think it would look better a bit more stretched....the current FJ looks GREAT from the B pillar foward, but awkward from there back IMHO.

But, I think Toyota had the Jeep Wrangler in its sights when it conceived the FJ and that dictated a 2 door design. I'm still glad they built it.

doors???

I don't know about you, but my FJ cruiser has 4 doors...5 if you count the one in the back.;p

I think its fine the way it is, I like the short wheel base, get a sequoia or 4runner if you want your SUV to have 4 doors.
I think it would have been smarter had they integrated the seat belt into the seat so that you dont have to undo it open the door, but like the others said I dont use the back much.

Yep, mine has 4 doors too.. but I do get it... and my answer is NO WAY!
Especially after seeing the ugly ugly new 4dr Jeep (which looked OK on paper, but in reality...)

You're right...the 4 door wrangler does look awkward for some reason. Almost like they stretched the wheelbase too much.

And...I meant 4 full sized doors on the FJ! :D.

No argument on the wheelbase issue...off road, shorter=better.

I love the clam shell doors.
I do wish they were a little bigger, so it would be easier getting in the back, but to do that they would have to stretch the wheel base. I hope what ever furture changes Toyota makes they leave the wheel base alone.

No I don't agree with you. The current FJ is a modern revival of the FJ40, which was a 2-door design and the current 100 series Cruiser is a 4 door, so I don't see a necessity.

They already make it- it's called the 4Runner. it also comes with the 100 series 5spd and VVTi-V8.

They can't bite V6 4Runner sales so the FJC will most likely go SUT (like the TRD concept) rather than 4 full doors.

I like it...

the 4dr wranglers look pretty good with 35's on 'em...saw one on my way back from Philly this week...

The FJ is my family vehicle!

I had a '97 Ford F150 (I know I know ... blech) for 10 years. My wife got pregnant last September (woot woot!) so I had to get rid of the 2-door truck and get something with a back seat for the baby. What other vehicle is there? :)

Personally, I dig the suicide doors. Not sure why but I've always liked vehicles with them. We've had a few weekends of hanging out with the family and heading up into the mountains for picnics and such ... all was well. :)

NOTE: "Family vehicle" -- we like to go camping in remote places and we're not soccer-parents (yet? eek ...)

I agree. The 4 door Wrangler with 35's and a decent lift with a hard top looks awesome. They are what the H3 should have been instead of a 5 cylinder Trailblazer with a "H" on it.

The small back seat is what kept me from buying the FJ, not the suicide doors. I have three small children- two in car seats- and needed a little wider back seat. However, I wouldn't change a thing about the FJ. I love my 03 Tundra but once the kids are out of car seats I will probably re-visit the idea of buying an FJ. It was fun to drive on the road in town. I can only guess how great it is off road.

I have 3 kids and is perfect now that only 1 is in booster seat. If you need car seats, no way will work with 3 kids. We love the doors and the fact that the kids can't get out unless we let them out.

I don't understand why people act like a non operational window is a stone age idea. It's not been that long since that was standard on a lot of vehicles.

Ford sold a lot of Broncos with no provision for doors or windows in the back seat. Of course, they had a removable hard top (hint, hint Toyota).

I hate the clamshell doors. Maybe if I drove it more often I'd get to like them.

I'd like to see two doors without the clamshells so the top really could be removable up to the front doors like a 1st gen 4Runner or Bronco/Blazer.

or front opening rear doors on a hardtop with fawking back windows that opened AND a power opening rear window.

I love the power rear window on my Tundra.

The 4Runner is going a whole different direction. I don't see a lot of overlap in sales. No more than a Grand Cherokee is competing with a 4 door Wrangler.

I would rather have a true two door slightly shorter wheel base, tight narrow trails, I would also like them to inboard the lights
